3/19 CASE# 23913006 Saved returns did not show on the main home page. When I stop work, I save and quit application. When I open application again later, the saved return did not show up on the home page of application to continue work. I have to click BROWSE and it takes me to MT DOCUMENTS file and there I click on it to open return.....

I was very disappointed this year because the software would not accept a Federal ID# on one of my 1099s which I confirmed two different ways that it was correct. In the end it said to print and mail. The thing I was really trying to avoid.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

This year's H&R Block software was the worst. I have used H&R software for over 15 years. This was the last time. It has become less and less intuitive and transparent over the years. This year it couldn't handle simple stock contribution to a donor advised fund. This precluded electronic filing (IRS rejected the filing return). The "help" was useless.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This year's version had a lot of bugs in it. 1. Every time I opened the program, it told me I needed to update both fed and state versions, but neither of these would download and install. I had to go to the HRB website to download the files. And, even after doing the update, the program continued to tell me I needed to update. And when I tried to submit my return, the program refused to do it - until I downloaded the exact same update files and installed them AGAIN. 2. Also, there are errors in the software for NYS. For years, I input the correct numbers in the right places - but the software always forbids the data entry - so there is NO WAY I can use your program to file my state taxes. 3. The interview mode is nice, but the correlation between what numbers I put in there and where they end up is a mystery. To get my investment data correct, I have to go to the individual forms and insert the numbers there. Sure be nice if there was a direct correlation between the interview and the form output. One reason I buy tax software is so that I don't have to go through every form to figure out which one to use. HRB has been failing me on this for years.

HR Block software does a good job holding the user's hand through most of the process. There are two areas where the software lets go of your hand. These areas need improvement: (1) REVIEW Stage. It informs the user of issues that require attention but is VERY weak on helping the user on HOW to fix it. This is a source of frustration for me every year I have used HR Block software. (2) There is NO help with Schedule K-1's (limited partnerships). The software assumes the user knows what to do with them.

Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

I bought the deluxe + state software and am having issues. It is not updating and I purchased NC State and it has not downloaded on my computer. I am very disappointed this year and will probably not use this again. The sad part is I have always used your software since I been doing my taxes and between last year and this year it has not been good. I called your support and they are sending me a link to update the software. I hope that it works.
