Never was prompted to enter QCD amount. Analysis check would not allow me to clear the bizarre request to enter a deceased SSN. Confusing and frustrating.

Good software and I have relied on it for years. Only issue is occasionally you get to a point where it seems to indicate you need to do something but does not just take you there. Could just be me.

Due to a software problem, this is the first year that I had to submit one of my returns (a state return) on paper instead of e-filing it. The suggested proposal to submit it electronically involved removing identifying personal information such as social security numbers, submitting the return for troubleshooting, and then re-entering the information for final submission.

I have used the H&R Block software now for about 10 years and find the program fairly easy to use and use. The auto load aspect from last years taxes saves time and pre loads the basic data into the program. I have not had much success with the pulling in of the data automatically from my interest bearing accounts and just do it all manually, but otherwise, its all good.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Hard to import documents

Overall great; search features need improvement

It works well every year to guide me through the many complexities of my return. But its search functions are clunky. For instance, I tried to search for IRA Distributions and nothing came up. Eventually I tried Distributions, IRA, and then it came up. Like a throwback to early internet days. Also, if I have a question on how my entry on the actual form got to be what it is, there's no search for that. Again, I have to try to guess where in the "interview" that item was asked about. We should be able to search the forms themselves.
Pros: Easy to prepare
