Wasted time entering all the info just to find out I didn't need to waste so much time when I didn't even come close to exceeding the standard deduction. Should have a box to select "Use standard deduction" when customers already know they won't surpass the standard deduction.

Overall the basic tax software was great. It did the job. However, I use Charles Schwab as a stock and fund account. I could not import my 1099 forms into the H&R Block software. I was able to do that in previous years.

I like the software and have been using it for many years. If you take your time and think it through the program is essential for accuracy and invaluable for do it yourselfers.

Ok. The explanations aren't always good enough, forcing me to read the irs tax publications anyway. One example is for 1099Rs received when you're a beneficiary after someone's death. Your explanations for how the tax code works in that situation are not good. I'm not sure that using H & R block really saved me any time compared to just doing it my hand like I used to!
Also, it would be nice if the state property tax portion or the software could be completely separate from the rest of the state portion, considering they have separate due dates, and property tax forms don't arrive in the mail until end of March, when your state taxes are typically already done and e-filed. It's odd to have to go into the middle of the program to access the property tax portion again.
And finally, it would be helpful if you made it so the interface would fill your screen when the H&R block window is expanded to full screen. Sometimes I like to scroll in the main window to increase the size of the text to make it easier to read, but there is barely any screen real estate for that to happen in, so the next button gets cut off so I can't see it. You then have to scroll back out to hit the next button. Not a very user-friendly interface in that regard.
Pros: Maximizes refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
