Persistent Problems

Every year it's the same problems, which one would think that HR Block could figure out. I buy the Deluxe and State with free federal e-filing. Every time I get to the state filing it want's to charge me for my state and I need to call and have someone send me a link to get the free state program. On top of that, when it tells me I need to update the program prior to filing, I follow the prompts only to be returned to the same screen that says I need to update the program. Inevitably I need to download the update from HR Block to get the update completed. A process that all told should take about an hour to complete (filing fed and state taxes) ends up taking three times as long and causes me anguish and stress. I can believe that in 2025 Block cannot figure out how to make this process work seamlessly. Shame on them. There are now three things that are inevitable for those that use the HR Block tax program- death, taxes and an arduous process of filing taxes with the H&R Block program.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The overall program was ok but buggy. It was simple to use but when verifying and getting stuck on forms that do not pertain and you can't make edits to move on...that is a problem The paid product should be well tested before sent out...and the public should not be test bed for your product.

Federal Tax program works well and guides you through the process fairly well. Some items request data, then next pages says you are not eligible or data not needed. If you don't qualify for an item because of last year's filing, then don't ask for info.
