My previous laptop was HP Spectre x360, but this time I chose HP Envy, I don't need touch screen, higher resolution with clear screen is more important. And also, I chose 32GB on board memory. That was very good for the smooth performance.
Keyboard is soft and good, but the speaker is not Bang & Olufsen speakers that HP Spectre had it.
But laptop speaker is small, I don't see any distinctive difference between old and current model.
Overall performance is very satisfactory. I used to run 20 Chrome browser taps and about same number of Bing browser, and I don't see any performance degradation. Same on MS office.

Decent large screen multimedia option with a large screen

I was looking for a multimedia laptop with a large screen to do excels, media streaming and occasional light gaming.
Pros: Good 4K screen, reasonable sound, quite compact for a 17-incher, great WiFi speed, quiet cooling fans, even allows light performance tuning with Intel XTU, num pad.

It will do the tough jobs that my other laptops won't. Awesome display for a laptop. My low rating is because it freezes often and has to be hard reset. I should have returned it as soon as I noticed the issue, but like I said, it does the work that the others cant handle.

I have owned a few HP laptops over the years and so far the Envy 174.3 is the best. For me it is a good balance between a pure gaming laptop and a pure business laptop. The Envy has enough memory and hard drive to run my engineering 3D software and a few games that I like. Also, the Envy is the first laptop that I have owned with a touch screen.

I’m very pleased with the computer I wanted a very high definition screen the only thing I’m getting frustrated with is the sound I have to have it all the way up 100% to hear and I don’t understand that meant to have Bang & Olufsen but it says Realtek when I go to sound settings so half the times I’m watching a movie on it I have to use captions

This Laptop is an evolved version that is thinner than previous versions and has a bright detailed display. The SSD hard drive makes for fast startup and operation. I have yet to test the speed of the machine with complex activities but with 32 GB RAM and an Nvidia graphics card I would expect decent performance. Battery performance seems to be quite good but accessing the battery to change it requires disassembling the case. A definite negative in my book. Overall, a decent Laptop from a reputable company.
