I got this to replace the 17" Envy laptop I have been using for nearly 12 years and love. I should say it is still working perfectly and only got a new battery 2 years ago so this Omen has a lot to live up to. It starts well with the advantage of an extra 16gb memory. The downside is that I can't just keep a spare battery to plug in and have to use an external dvd.
It is very matte black. I would have preferred the touch pad to have defined areas for the buttons as everything blends in. More USB sockets would have been nice, particularly if they were on the sides and so easier to reach. I have an external hub to make up for that.
I like that it can be plugged into our wired network and am unsure if I like the wifi being on at the same time as I'm not a gamer. I can of course just turn wifi off. I buy gaming machines because they are best for graphics and video.
The battery doesn't seem to last very long but that could be down to the laptop cooler it is sitting on.
It is fast and responsive and I like everything about it apart from Windows 11.
