Haven’t ridden a bike in over 20 years!

I was an avid cyclist in my teens and early twenties. But then I got married, had kids and my cycling days ended.I’ve gone through a lot of tough years and I’m currently using a walker if I have to walk any distances. Then my cousin showed me his new Velotric Nomad plus bicycle! I was impressed! I bought one. I’ve taken a bike ride around town with my kids for the first time ever! I never thought I’d be able to experience the joy of riding a bicycle again! Thank you for making a bike that ; I could buy in installments, has the electric motor I need to be confident that I can always make it back home even if I run out of steam, and that is tough enough to handle my almost 300lb body. Getting the Velotric Nomad Plus has honestly changed my life for the better!

First EBike is a Sweet Ride

Great ride for my first e-bike! It looks like a 1940’s motorcycle. Rides great and is a blast. We have done a few 20 mile rides in gravel and it feels fine. No peddling without assist though at 70 lbs.

I have the Nomad 1 Plus all of 2 days. I have to say that this is the most fun this 48 year old dude has had on a bike in a long time. My intentions are to use this bike for hunting and fishing and just plain ol having a blast riding it. Ive only rode it 40 miles in 2 days but I’ve put it through some stuff. It’s performed fantastic. I have the step through. I am 6’5” 230lbs. And have no problems with comfort of riding.

My first impression as I removed it from the box was wow its big compared to my previous fat 26" ebike. It was packaged well and delivery was prompt. Assembly was easy enough mostly pre- assembled the instructions and video are good.I took a test spin without the battery and it peddled fairly easy for being as heavy as it is.Once the battery was charged it was off to give it a real test. Right away I noticed the power difference compared to my 500 watt bike. The cadance also operates differently than usual in that it it doesn't have a set amount of power per the pass level selected but instead has a a set speed level per pass level. This means for example, if you approach a hill at 12mph. the bike will automatically boost the power to maintain 12mph instead of having to turn to a higher pass level to climb. And this bike likes to climb. It handles thae rough trails well enough but if you want to ride slower than 10mph you'll have to turn to the level to 0 or peddle and coast. It handles a mild single track ok but it's not a corner carver by any means. Also keep in mind that it has low peddle clearance so be cautious how you lean when cornering. I encountered a peddle scrape on the asphalt while peddling now I make sure the peddle is in the up position if I lean into a turn. And somthing else I would not recommend yanking on the handle bars to jump a curb or obstacle due to the adjustable handle bars. The front end is heavy and you could pull the adjustment loose. The set screw will only hold so much. I found that out. Overall I'm happy the bike so far and we'll see how it holds up. The battery range seems to be good as the varying level of output helps. Not only does it increase power going up hill it decreases on flat terrain or down hill. My last mixed terrain ride was 22 miles and only used 1 bar on the level indicator. One thing that could be improved is the wire routing for the back light. Oh, the new models do have a constant tail light and brake light, but I had two of the clips that hold the wire break somehow and the left wire dangling next to the rear tire. I just drilled through to side of the fender and used some black cable ties to secure it to the inner edge of the fender. It would be better if it there was a channel for the wire to run through instead of just plastic clips. So, after the third day of riding and 65 miles, I'm getting used to the bike and I am looking forward to some fall riding along the North Shore of Lake Superior next weekI would recommend this bike.
