Nomad 1 fat-tire review

My order arrived with small damages to the box, all well packed and in good condition. Put 200+ mi on it mostly on level 1-3 after 2 weeks with only minor issues. Overall, I love my Nomad 1 especially the shape of the handlebar, no back pain after long ride. Still waiting for the free folding lock!

Great bike, nice range and easy to ride. Great bike for my wife. The ONLY negative is the amount of time it took to get it. The instructions were super easy and took about 30 minutes to get her going. Came almost fully charged and 20 miles later still had 2 bars of charge left. Definitely pull the trigger on this if you are a first timer to electric bikes...

TLDR: Bike is amazing, strong hill climber, great range, and affordable compared to others.Let me start off by saying this is my first E-Bike and this bike impressed me SO much. It took a bit of cruising around my apartment complex to get used to having a pedal assist/throttle. I live in a super steep hilly area and weigh about 210 (220lbs around Thanksgiving hehe). This bike DESTROYS hills on Pedal Assist 5 with very little human power added. After literally climbing to the top of the mountain I live on I was blown away and it kind of made me feel like superman being able to climb these SUPER steep hills. I would normally be walking the bike up or not even attempting to ride in my area because of the steepness of the hills. Even though the motor is clearly doing most of the work it sure makes you feel way more confident when a big hill shows up. The fat tires were bigger in person than I expected, but after riding them around I can say I am happy I went with them. Transitioning from different pavements, over bumps, rocks, cracks etc. feels seamless and they are super comfy to cruise around on road or trail. Pedaling this bike on flat ground with 0 assist is totally do-able and it doesn't feel like you're pedaling a 73lb bike until you go up an incline without assist/throttle. Wish the brake light was integrated into the rear fender, but honestly, I just grabbed the light off my other bike and slapped it on the seat post. Not really a dealbreaker when you consider how cheap the bike is compared to others and aftermarket lights are cheap. I started my first ride with a full battery and wasn't really sure what to expect range wise with my hilly neighborhood. I consistently saw the motor peaking over 1200 even up to 1300 at one point climbing a hill! It didn't sound like it was struggling hard or bothered by running at full power. After riding for about 1h30mins all around my neighborhood, up the mountain, down to grocery store, and home. I only went down 1 SINGULAR BAR on the battery gauge. Tabbing over to my odometer I saw that I got 13.4 MILES. This is absolutely shocking to me as I pushed it hard up hills, offroad, and tested throttle max speed several times. I didn't ride it around on speed 5 the entire time or anything, but when I needed to use the motor to "assist me" I did. Lastly for those wondering the assembly took me an hour with zero bicycle assembly experience. 11/10

Very good! Super fast shipping! I road a Trek 830 mountain bike for years with front suspension and then a Gary Fisher full suspension mountain bike. The Nomad feels very similar to either mountain bike. Very comfortable and pretty powerful. I think it may be faster off road than on black top? I'm really going to enjoy this bike. Love the colors and styling as well. Unique. Nice job Velotric!

I recently purchased Velotric Nomad bikes for my wife and I. The bikes were delivered in about one week and Velotric provided regular updates on the delivery schedule. The bikes were packaged very well and arrived with no damage. Assembly was straight forward and the quality of the product is excellent. I have ridden my bike everyday since receiving it and I am having a blast!

After owning another ebike, the Nomad satisfied my wants-to a point. It is great looking and the right range/power with fat tires- all requirements. But it’s 70+ lbs which is the compromise I decided to make. For its incredible price, I had to accept the trade off. I’m not surprised the electrics feel different which isn’t a problem- it’ll just take a minute to get used to. A little thing happened when I put a Discover rack on my Nomad(they decided to not change the rack)- the bracket to move the light was too long and wouldn’t allow locating the light there due to rubbing the fork bridge. Oops. And the advertised height range was up to 6’7”. I’m 6’4 and I need a longer seat post and an extension on my headset. Unfortunately, the cables to the handlebars don’t have much extra length in them at all, so I might get an inch of extra height. These are just small things and I love the bike’s appearance, internal cabling, and feel of riding. At this price point one can’t be too choosy- but a couple tweeks would be good.
