I bought this camera cube few months ago now and I am satisfied with it. The build quality is good, I had no problem setting it up in the outdoor backpack 25L with the hooks. Removing the foam lid makes it easy to tuck below and forget about it when in a backpack. However I find the price quite high, especially compared to V1 camera cubes that were almost half the price of the V2 ; so instead of having 2 (one for each backpacks) I have only one that I move from one another.
I bought the x-small cube and it is amazing. Perfect size for a a6600 with a lens and an extra lens. It fits in my backpack but also i use it as an sling.
My camera likes it best on the clip. There, it is always ready to shoot. In a little rain it gets a shell and in heavy rain, It’ll go into the backpack.
There is the camera cube. Together with the cube, it will go into the tent or into many other bags. The cube is light and comfortable. It reduces condensation by keeping temperatue changes low, especially in the morning. It keeps the batteries warm, that is important for charging, and it keeps the inside of the tent tidy because the camera stuff is all in there. Still, if there’s anything to shoot at night, the camera is out in seconds.
Ride the clip, rest in the cube and be ready for the next picture.
I wish I would have purchased this sooner. Super versatile and I use it all the time. Sometimes for protecting my camera in my main suitcase, sometimes as a dedicated sling with a PD strap, and sometimes as an insert into my Bellroy sling. Holds a small body + 2 lenses, or in my case a Leica Q3 + Ricoh GRIII
I use a Small cube inside my SwissGear backpack, which works very well to keep my R8 + two lenses secure, along with a few accessories. One of these lenses is a long zoom, and the other is a compact prime. Nice to keep everything together instead of scattered in a backpack pocket. Just wish it came with an interior velcro pocket that had SD card pockets like the older model; I bought one separately.
