Form over function
on August 12, 2021

I bought the 6L to carry a Nikon Z and the 14-24 or the 24-70 f 2/8. They barely fit, but is functional for that purpose.
The outside pocket zipper is at the sloping top, so all of the space above the zipper is wasted. The sloped top also makes carrying a lens verically oriented impossible. The sloping sides also create wasted space, it's more like a 5.5L bag.
Since all of PD inserts are vertically oriented, you can't stack say a Nikon 50 mm Z on top of the 24-70. Oh well.
The bag is well made but falls flat on the design, looks great but with a large mirrorless lens the only thing I can put in the outside pocket is a tiny notebook and some eye drops.
There is enough room to carry the 14-24 S with the large hood with a 112mm filter attached. So it works for what I bought it for, a single lens and a Z camera.

very poor quality outer material
on January 4, 2026

The outer material is a joke. It's completely impossible to clean if it gets dirty. And if you use water, it becomes unpleasant, as if it's stretched. I've never seen such poor material in such expensive equipment. Don't even try to expose this bag to light rain... I'm very dissatisfied three days after purchasing it.

Not as good as I wanted it to be

Verified Purchase:Yes
I wanted to be able to give this 5 stars but I just can't. I am a very amateur photographer and bought this for a recent trip to rainy Iceland. It worked for the multiple purposes I wanted it to: for packing my camera in my carry on and for taking on hikes or while walking around. I had to dock it stars for a couple reasons. First, it is not very easy or quick to convert from the sling to the waist pouch. Not a huge deal but I converted it less than I would have due to how long it took to switch. Second, it was not really waterproof. The sling got soaked and stayed wet for a long time. My camera was fine inside but I would not call this fabric waterproof at all. I'll probably need to get a rain cover for it for the next trip, which will just make taking the camera in and out harder.

A bit disappointing (quality & features)
on April 1, 2023

Peak Design charges high prices for their products, arguing that they offer the highest quality and well thought-out features.
The overall quality impression is quite good, but the strap connections made of plastic reduce my quality impression. I would have liked to have the same material there, as in the carabiner (probably aluminum).
Another point has struck me negatively. The feature is advertised that the capture clip can be attached to the bag. Unfortunately, when you do that, you prevent the zipper from running freely. This could have been better considered in the design and development.
Furthermore, I noticed that the quick release does not have a blocking effect in any position. Gravity and the pull prevents slippage. Therefore, the bag must be lifted and the pull relieved to change the strap length (you can also see on the videos).
In sum, it can not keep the high advertising promises for me.

Front pocket unusable
on January 16, 2025

Steps required to open the "quick access front pocket":
1. Grab bag with one hand
2. Grab zipper with the other hand. Oh, are you holding a camera? Better put that away first.
3. Pull vigorously.
4. Pry the rigid top of of the pocket back as you attempt to spread open the pocket with some other fingers in some other hand.
5. Find out your iPhone doesn't fit.
This was part of a big order and overall I'm underwhelmed. Would have been so easy to have a magnetically clasped sleeve-like pocket on the inside of this expensive bag - as seen in some of their other products - but no. Instead they make you unzip a turtle shell. Absolutely cannot understand how this gets past a design team.

Surprisingly poor quality

Useful bag but disappointed with quality - especially fabric. I've used the bag maybe 10 times so far but the fabric color is already fading especially around the corners. I think they use poor quality fabric to cut costs. Also the "hook" that is supposed to lock the strap is weak. My strap lengthens on it's own over time despite it being in the "locked" position.

Sling 6L Ash

So first of all this thing is GREAT! Its comfy and i forget that im wearing it at times. Its very sturdy and tough. I like climbing all over rocks and stuff on the WA beaches and hikes that i do. I like to carry light with only essentials and this give me that and more. The best thing about this bag would be the way you can rearrange it inside with the 2 dividers it comes with. I ve tried so many diff setups its literally ENDLESS. I love that cuz i love to switch it up all the time. Especially with diff gear that ive got for diff occasions. Anywayyyssss highly recommend this bag. Im sure any size you go with youll absolutely love 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Great Bag for Tefillin!
on September 7, 2023

I started using this bag a few days ago as a tefillin bag (tefillin are Jewish Prayer boxes that we tie to our arms and heads every day for morning prayers). With the dividers you can make perfect cells to hold each of the four boxes. The bag is very firm and protective, which I like. It's also the perfect height and firmness to use as a stand for a prayer book (both to rest a book on top as well as to lean against the bag with the help of the straps as in the picture). The zippers are very durable and pleasant to use, and I love the use of magnets for the inside pocket.
I'm not a huge fan of the front pocket. It is too stiff and hard to get a hand in and put things in. It would be nicer if it was softer and stretchier in order to properly use all the space in it. In the inside zipper pocket, I didn't find much use for the SD card holders being that they are very small. The biggest downside of this bag is the price, but you can't take 'peak' out of 'Peak Design'. Overall, I really love this bag and it elevates my prayer experience. If there are any Jews reading this, I hope this review was helpful. It is also a great bag for mivtzoyim!
