Overall, the backpack lives up to the online consensus that it is great for photography and carrying the equipment entailed. However, outside of that use, the bag does fall short.
Pros: - beautiful aesthetic - well thought out function, love the magnetic clasp - dividers work really well for holding camera gear
Cons: - Exterior material, though rugged and durable, does feel cheap in a sense - No space to hold any documents except in limited laptop pocket - Overall rigid structure makes bag somewhat unwieldy (specifically the 30L)
Overall if you have a lot of photography gear to carry, and the cash to spend on a photography specific backpack, this backpack will do you good. As an everyday carry, I think it falls short.

The best bag out there just got better!

I used my everyday backpack version 1 almost everyday for 3 years. It still looks and functions as if it's new and I have absolutely loved using it. When I saw the release of version 2 I immediately purchased the navy blue color. The new version fixed every little thing that annoyed my on the first version. The laptop compartment is more roomy, the straps are more comfortable, the organization on the side flaps is way better for easy access. I've been using my version 2 for a while now and I can easily say that it has been the best experience I have ever had with a bag. The version 1 was already the best bag I'd ever used and now it's even better!

Everything you need and more

This bag is incredible and still after a month of having it I'm still finding hidden pockets and everything! Being able to comfortably carry a 15.6 inch laptop, mirrorless a6400 with zoom lens, tripod and ipad with it's own carry case and lots more, it's truly amazing how much stuff I can fit in this bag without it feeling like i'm cramming stuff in. The other surprise was, despite the back feeling heavy with all my gear in it, it's surprisingly comfortable and the weight is very evenly distributed through the straps.
If you're on the fence because of the price, don't worry I was the same, but i took the plunge and didn't regret it.
This bag is well crafted and clever--but ultimately not a camera bag. The origami dividers, which are perfect in top-loaders like the Sling, leave the equipment rattling around in the backpack no matter how carefully they're configured. I also can't get over the strange placement of metal zippers on the interior of the side flaps right where the camera display or lens would sit. It's ultimately not really a camera bag, even if it would be a great bag for other purposes. I ended up sending it back.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Simply superb, without equal

After careful research, I purchased an Everyday Backpack in 2018. Most expensive backpack I ever bought. I was frustrated by all previous ones in many respects: not waterproof, hard to access areas, either insufficient protection for laptop or unusable to do groceries, and so on.
The Everyday Backpack was my trusty backpack for ~4 years, *every day*. Countless grocery store hauls. Travel to conferences for work. Personal travel. Beloved.
Hence I also got my partner one.
Then the top zipper gave up.
Peak Design sent me a whole new (v2!) backpack!
They made true on their incredible customer service. I am now a loyal customer, because they do actually keep their promises!

7 YEARS WITH MY Leica x Peak Design V1 Capsule
on August 10, 2024

It’s been 7 years with my Leica x Peak Design V1 Capsule backpack. I purchased this bag from the Leica Store Los Angeles way back in 2017 and I’ve taken it with me on every single trip to nearly every single continent on this planet without a single thread out of place. The Leica emblem “red dot” on the back corner of the bag and on the left shoulder strap still distinguishes the bag from many others and its tan interior looks amazing after 7 years of gear shifting, shoving, and squeezing for those long flights and excursions. Magnetic side pockets still stay strong without any tears and are a quick storage for sunglasses, headphones, straps, water bottles and chewing gum. The compartmentalized internal side pockets are heaven-sent and store my keys, passport, journal, pens, and cables. Currently, I have the center compartments split into 3 FlexFold sections: my rangefinder sits on top for easy access with the Maglatch, my medium format or video cam sits in the middle and distributes the weight well, and the bottom compartments are for film, chargers, WB sheet, and snacks. The internal sleeve fits my 16” MacBook or iPad easily, and I love the extra shallow storage area above the sleeve and the hidden area inside the Maglatch to store extra cash and SD cards. The 20L is discreet, light, and fits under plane seats, and easy to hug or kept secure under your arms when you’re in risky areas. I’ve used the external straps to latch on my trusted Filson Mackinaw Cruiser for any unforeseen weather, or I've even strapped on a Peak Design Sling for additional storage that passes as a carryon. I also have hidden inside the front panel is an extra rain cover for the bag, extra sets of Peak Design Leash, Cuff, and Anchor Links. Lastly, the bag has small anchor loops that I've used with combo locks and carabiners to secure the bag from theft and water damage.
The durability, modern design, comfortable fit, and inconspicuous form is perfect for everything situation I've been in, whether it's for work or play. The patina on the Maglatch is probably the only thing that dates the bag, but I love the battle scars and stories that my bag can tell! Shout out to Peak Design for creating an exceptional product that has been a joy to own. As I enter my 8th year with this bag, I still don't see another bag in the market that can rival its versatility and durability, and so I highly recommend it to everyone who is in search of a bag that is nearly perfect for the needs of a working photographer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing Laptop Bag for Everyday Work Use
on February 3, 2021

I spent over six months reviewing a multitude of laptop bags and each I was unable find a bag that suited my needs. With previous bags I was often finding I would have to pull most contents before being able to find the cable I required. This was until I found the 30L Everyday Backpack paired up with the Tech Pouch which allow me to keep that backpack organised with ease. The flex fold dividers allow this bag to be extremely adaptable for any use. Extremely happy with the quality of the bag and responsiveness of Peak Design when I have had question. I have been using laptop bags for the past 20 Years and hands down this is the best bag I have ever owned.

I'm a total backpack snob. For years I've been plagued by bags with giant compartments and no organization. This bag checks so many boxes for me. the team at PD are great. The bag is made with fantastic quality. the storage organization is fantastic, modular, and ingenious. I can hold a tremendous amount of gear for the size of this bag, and the most important part is I can find it all quickly when I need it. Gone are the days of digging through my backpack looking for that one tiny thing that's bouncing around in the compartment. Love this bag, will keep it until it dies and buy a new one, but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.
