I’ve had this bag for a little over a month and have used it on several trips. The 35L size is perfect for trip to the gym or a long weekend. Only complaint is the design of the carry handles. The nylon canvas material is used for the grip which creates an uncomfortable rigid feeling. The edge where the handle material is sewn feels “sharp” at times adding the the discomfort. However, this only applies to the Black color since on the Sage bag a soft brown leather is used for the handles. Wish to see a similar design with black leather. Also, as noted in other reviews the magnets in the handles are very week and virtually useless.
I fly frequently for work and mainly use a duffel to avoid being forced to gate check my bag with how close a lot of connections can be now. I was looking for a duffel that looked professional and had some structure/organization to it. The 35L duffel is perfect for my ~3 day trips where I am by no means a minimalist packer. I can easily fit work, casual, and gym outfits/shoes with plenty of room to spare for a toiletry bag, protein bars, chargers, etc.
The 35L duffel has just enough organization options while maintaining a true unhindered duffel compartment. The build quality and design are fantastic and I'm confident it will hold up over time. I think it's a great value compared to some other comparable options on the market that either lack the clean but high-end design or go too far with the organization.
If you're looking for a run of the mill gym bag this is NOT it. If you are looking for a classy duffle bag that serves as an carry on, perfect for business, casual, camping or glamping, then this is it. The extra pockets allow for organization (a common problem with duffle bags) and the extra security features means less stress about where you last put your passport. Worth every penny.
Bought this to use as a carry on bag and was worried it wouldn't hold 1 weeks worth of clothes. My previous duffel bag carry on was 40 L and is good for maybe 3/4 days worth of clothes. I managed to fit more in this bag which is 35L using the packing cubes Peak Design sells. I was able to pack one pair of boots, ten shirts, 2 pairs of jeans and 10 pairs of socks and boxer briefs along with a wash pouch. It is also a plus that the bag is black and sleek and love that the Peak Design logo is subtle.
If there are any criticisms it's that the magnets on the handles and on the sides of the bag are weak and are almost useless. If I don't place the bag on the ground ever so gently, the handles come apart. Also I wish the clips for the shoulder strap were made of aluminum like the ones on the handles instead of plastic.
Ingot this bag last Christmas and I've loved it for the year I've used it. I travel frequently for work and this bag has held up through it all and looks amazing! Materials are top notch and the bag does not have any scraps and little to no scuffs. The bag is also a joy to use in the age of single bag carry as it is carry on sized but big enough to fit a week's worth of clothes. The bag is a great size and I've never had a problem being it onto the plane, while I've seen airline attendants litterally turn people away with the suit case style carryons. Great product and 10/10 would recommend. Thank you peak design!
