I bought my first everyday backpack 4 years and the zipper broke a few months ago on it.
It's my favorite backpack and camera bag and I literally use it everyday. Peak Design honored the lifetime warranty on it after the zipper broke and sent a new one within days. Love it.
Bought this to upgrade my V1 EDB. The little issues I had with my V1 are solved - easier to grab side handle, magnetic straps for when you thread it through your suitcase handle.
I bought the 30L version of the bag. A bit larger than I expected, even if the specs on the Peak Design website were accurate. Even though I am a photographer, I chose this bag for the everyday life: work, kids, outdoor. The 2 laptops compartment is very good. It will only fit 2 very slim laptop, or one (and only one) thicker. The bag can easily face the office routine, meaning that you can bring your laptop, your food, your water bottle, documents, wallet, jacket without giving the impression that you are starting a road trip. And during weekends or holidays this bag is pretty much perfect. You can have every thing you need. I personally own a D750 with a Sigma 24-25mm on it, and they fit just perfect in this bag. I can even carry an extra 70-200mm if needed. There is many others qualities when it comes to this bag, you can go on Youtube if you want to get reviews. The only things I could blame this bag for are the straps: they are too thin!!! If you have a 30L bag, then you want to carry a lot of gear. But it can become painful if you are hiking or walking around. This is the reason I cannot give this bag a 5 stars review.
I have a lot of Peak Design products but it all started with the everyday backpack. I searched for years for a backpack that was durable and had build in organisation. It's all in the Everyday backpack. Its thoughtfully designed and also allows you to customise it to your needs. I often get people asking me about my bag as it stands out but is at the same time very professional looking. The build quality is superb and the lifetime warranty really is amazing.
I purchased my v1 EDB back when PD was running their Kickstarter campaign back in 2015, and due to a manufacturing issue with the original Ash fabric which surfaced in 2023, PD, true to their lifetime warranty, sent me a replacement
Totally stoked that they sent me a v2 20L EDB, and I have to say that this new version has refinements that make it a true everyday backpack for me
First off, the top flap now sits more like a box-top, giving the bag a more boxy shape (which I love) as opposed to the older flap design that sloped downwards (which I felt ruined the aesthetic of the bag).
The v2 also looks smaller than the v1, and has a more compact silhouette. The elasticized key strap is simple but such a welcome improvement, and I can say the same for the inclusion of the magnets to keep the straps in place - genius
The 20L v2 fits my 2016 Dell XPS 15 laptop just right, but I wouldn't stuff in an iPad as it would start getting a bit tight, making the top pocket a little hard to get to. The little pocket on the inside of the front panel is brilliant for keeping my Airpods Pro and a Lightning cable handy.
The 20L is also the perfect size - I also own a 30L v1 and it's so easy to load up too much gear into the bag, which honestly, isn't very comfortable to use when fully loaded. I have a Leica M digital body with attached lens, plus 2 lenses (in neoprene pouches) tossed in, along with my iPad mini 6, power bank, Nitecore M10 battery charger (which I use to charge 2 M10 batteries via USB with my power bank), my Steam Deck (sits vertically and reachable from side access), some snacks and a light jacket, and it's comes up to something I can haul around all day.
All in all, the 20L is great as a day bag, and I highly recommend it. PD bags are really hard-wearing (my v1 still shows no signs of wear) and they are great with their lifetime warranty, so buy with confidence!
