I bought this last week and was immediately impressed by the quality. I wish there were more pockets/dividers, but it suits my needs well.

Nobody's perfect

I've had the v1 and v2 of this bag. It's the best bag in the world - I've tried a lot of bags over the years. It's great for travelling, fits easily in the carry on allowance for domestic and international flights. It has fantastic features. V2 increased the number of neat magnetic closures that keep the bag looking neat.
The adjustable chest strap is easy to use. Things you don't use every day are hidden - e.g., straps and tie downs. It's expandable. Removable bits to cushion camera gear. Stowage for a laptop plus a tablet.
One comment I have for the designers is to improve the shoulder hinge on v3. It's very comfortable, but after some time the hinge points can squeak.
Amongst the 100 great features of this bag that's one gripe. The warranty is lifetime, and serious. I'm on the train now, looking at my brand new replacement bag that PD sent me. It's my second v2. If they make a v3 I'll buy it.
I also have the Capture Clip and a wrist strap. Everything PD makes is worth your consideration

Worthy Successor

After oqning the Ash Everyday Backpack v1 for over 9 years, I retired it and switched over to the v2 Midnight backpack. It's build quality remains superb and it's clear that the Peak Design team took it very seriously when they looked to improve upon the original.
The pockets, zippers, and magnets allows a versatility unlike any other bag I've used. You can choose how tactical you want the bag to be/appear at any point in time and it perfectly transforms between the sleek commuter and chock full travel partner.
I cannot recommend this bag highly enough.

i bought the first Everyday Backpack 9 years ago, and it lasted until the side zipper gave out this year. The lifetime warranty really works, and PD sent me the V2 backpack within 2 weeks. (I also purchased the outdoor backpack separately out of curiousity.) I had been a little worried about the loss of storage in the side flaps going from V1 to V2, since V2 only has a few open pockets on the sides.
However, the top back compartment (where the laptop goes) has extra pockets, which are useful for a charger and two cables and easy to get to, the top side door pockets are now accessible from inside the main flap compartment (instead of having to unzip the side doors), and i purchased the large size PD Tech pouch to hold the many items that i have accumulated over time and stuffed inaccessibly in V1's side door pockets. I place the tech pouch in the main compartment and keep it at the top with one of the velcro separators. I also use the key cord to keep the tech pouch permanently tied to the main backpack.
For me, the first thing i look for in a backpack is a large-ish pouch that is accessible but secure (ideally with a zipper). This is a difficult balance to hit, and the Everyday backpack doesn't have it, but the tech pouch jury rig does the job. It is accessible because it is at the top of the main compartment while being secure because it is hidden and also tied to the backpack.
in short, I'm very happy with the V2, very happy with the lifetime warranty (they really mean it), and I will use the outdoor backpack for fieldwork.

My lifelong backpack

I have been enjoying Peak Design backpacks since V1 and cannot imagine using any other backpack or gear. It's sleek design, intuitive use, and large space makes this an integral part of my day to day commute for every day use and for long trips. Anytime I have had an issue with the backpack - years of wear and tear - the lifelong warranty has always succeeded in replacing and upgrading my bag. Do i miss the duller, matte finish of my original brown bag, absolutely - but the newer finish feels more modern and I'm growing to love it. I have never let go of my original V1 keychain system as I'm not a bungee cord person.

Endgame Bag

This bag really can do everything: hiking pack, commuter, backpacking Europe, camera bag, around town bag, diaper bag - and I've done all of those (except the last one, though I've heard friends use it that way). Super extendable, super handy, and the right mix of structure/organization when you want it and 'big dumb bag' when you need it. Can even use the back pocket for a water bladder if you're really going after it. 10/10

Great EDC backpack

I've had this backpack for over a year, use it most days for my EDC and it's a really great pack. The internal flex dividers are ace and allow for multiple configurations and I can generally get everything I need for the day in to it. Always have a camera and lens, room for a weather proof jacket, it's the UK after all. I can switch between MacBook Pro 14 or my iPad, depending on travelling heavy or light. Quality seems spot on, no issues with zips, no tears or breaks.
I find the base weight is slightly heavy with nothing in it and the straps can take a bit of adjusting to get super comfy. They're just niggles though, nothing that stops me using it daily.
