Great Performance and Build Quality
on September 10, 2019

Travelled internationally for 18 days and the Travel Backpack performed exceptionally. Had too much weight in the checked bag and to avoid the excessive weight charge, I opted to remove the extra weight from the roller bag and add it to the TBP, and check it also. Had no issues when I retrieved it. On the return trip it was loaded with a stuffed med. and sm. packing cube and a load 5L Sling, a rain jacket, some books an iPad, and a portable speaker. It was expanded on the return trip and still had no issues carrying it on the plane. Stood in the CBP checkpoint for. 2 hrs with no issue accept for standing in line for 2 hours. Bag performed very well as did the packing cubes. Great performance and quality. Medium Pcube had 4 pairs of jeans & 4 long sleeve Henley's as a reference. Heavy duty stuff. 5LSling - Mōvi, iPad, Moment wide angle, maker charger, Extra iPhone case, cables and small misc.

Great with a few exceptions

I purchased the 45L travel backpack, medium packing cube, tech pouch and rain cover for frequent business travel. I have tried many things from messenger and spinner suitcase, to one bag travel and prefer the later immensely. That being said it is not without a few flaws that bother me each trip. I will 100% agree with all other reviews on YouTube, and here that it is a wonderful bag, well designed and constructed with quality materials. I love the storable straps, the lashing straps and rain cover. I has enough organization to be helpful but not overwhelming. But...
• When using the storable straps, it would be nice to be able to remove the waist belt straps. I never use them and they make stowing the shoulder straps a pain. • The straps are not comfortable at all. Where it around downtown or in the airport all day and you'll feel it very early on. If I could add my FarPoint 40 straps it would be perfect. • The pack is much heavier than other travel backpacks, noticeably heavier. • Top strap is hard to grab since it's on the edge of the top. Should be centered.
In conclusion, I think the pack is great and really do like it. I just wanted to add a few real world points that are true for me. If i could get the above addressed, and have the comfort of the Farpoint 40 straps this would be the perfect pack hands down. When I travel for none work, or none flying I always grab the Farpoint 40 as it is way more comfortable to pack around all day.

Best business travel bag I've ever owned!
on October 17, 2019

I travel most weeks for business, usually 2 or 3 nights. I decided to combine my roller bag and backpack into one to make travel easier. I did a lot of research (by a lot, I mean A LOT). I ordered a Nomatic travel pack and sent it back. It's a great bag, but not quite for me (I thought I wanted a lot of pockets but in the end they actually made the bag cumbersome). The Peak Design travel bag is (almost) perfect. I absolutely love this bag! I love how it looks. I love the quality. I love that it can be big, bigger, biggest. I love that it holds so much. I love that the pockets are large and have zippers. I love the side access. I love that my water bottle gets swallowed up by the bag instead of sticking out like a goiter. I love that the shoulder and waist straps hide away behind magnetic closures. Don't believe what others have written -- they are very easy to store!
Why it's not quite perfect: the top handle has minimal padding, so not easy to carry like a briefcase. It's supposed to be a bag that stands up on its own, but I've found that it only does so if I pack it a certain way. The snaps (to compress it to 30L) are difficult to snap. For me, it requires two hands and I have to fumble to get the snaps to line up. HOWEVER, all these "complaints' are very minor and they do not detract from my overall affection for this bag. Yes, I said affection.
By the way, it fit under my seat on my recent Southwest flight. It was pretty maxed out at the 35L size, but no problem!

I ran it over
on December 4, 2019

After weeks of searching for the perfect travel/camera bag I came across this beast. I'd been using it for a few months and had it loaded with my laptop, clothing, and some other electronics. I got back from a trip and set the bag down leaning on the rear tire of my 4-door Jeep Wrangler, with a few hundred pounds of gear in the back. Without thinking I hoped in the driver seat and started reversing. I went right over a massive bump, and after a clueless second I realized I'd run over my peak design bag. With a few grand worth of gear inside. I ran outside and looked at the bag, which was only slightly deformed. I threw it in the Jeep and opened it, to find my laptop perfectly intact. I turned it on and IT WORKED. The only damage sustained by the bag being ran over by my personal Abrams tank was a slightly bent metal frame rod in the bag, which I managed to bend back. I'm convinced this bag could take a direct hit from a ballistic missile. It is DURABLE. Not to mention if you're in the Navy, it fits perfect inside the rack upside down. Like it's meant for it. Solid deployment bag. 5 stars.

Hands-down the best travel backpack in the market.

I live out of this bag.
I'm a "digital nomad", and travel full-time (by choice -- I work for a company remotely). I carry the Travel Backpack and a Medium Camera Cube with me everywhere I go. It stands up to tough weather (even without using the rain pouch, which has a genius storage and attachment mechanism), and holds everything I need -- passport, ~2 weeks of clothing, toiletries, tech stuff (I carry a lot more than most people, trust me), etc. My camera gear all fits in the medium cube, which I take with me as well -- it gains a strap and is carried on my shoulder while traveling (plane - under the seat), and takes the place of the personal effects in my bag when I arrive at my destination and during my day-to-day.
The ONE thing I'd like to see on the bag is an aluminum frame to help with the weight + counterbalancing. As it is, the TB gets quite heavy if you pack it out (especially with photog gear in it). While the straps are padded well and hold up, the lack of structured support and counterbalancing can weigh on your shoulders and back.

Packing made easy!

Long story short: This bag is phenomenal at its job, especially used in connection with the packing cubes. You can't go wrong with this bag. It's easy to carry, fits almost every need, and is extremely durable. If you're on the fence, buy the bag.
I have had this bag for years and it has stood up to the test of time. I use it as a weekender or as a carry on for longer trips. My current system is this bag with the wash pouch, small packing cube, and 2 medium packing cubes. This will hold everything you could need for a weekend getaway. The straps pack away easily and it carries the weight very well. After a long trek, my shoulders are never sore and I can easily access anything I need. The expandable/collapsible feature is a packing life saver. I trust Peak Design with everything they make and this bag is no exception. Do further you a favor and buy this bag!

Worth the price of admission

This is the most expensive backpack I have ever bought. I was skeptical that the quality would match the price, but was pleasantly surprised when I actually got my hands on it. This bag oozes quality, being made from very nice and durable materials. The design is well thought out and avoids being clunky while offering many useful features. My favorite feature that I believe us understated in its reviews is that it's rigid like a suitcase. This makes it so much easier to pack and carry and is the reason I decided to go with this bag over the AER flight pack. As long as Peak can keep this level of quality up, I will be returning for more.
