Well-built Bag but heavy to carry around when fully packed!
on July 1, 2019
Posted by: Leong
Carried this bag for a short trip to Taipei. The bag was well-built overall, good quality materials but when packed fully with gears, clothes and accessories, felt very weighed down, and this is not helped by the reels Ticket thin straps that kind of “cut” on the shoulders. Was exhausted and tired in the back & shoulders after carrying it for a few hours. Otherwise, liked the design and the build of the travel bag.

The Near-Perfect Backpack - Functional, Transformative, and Clean - Caters To Your Needs
on July 16, 2020

I was anticipating loving this backpack even before it arrived. When it finally did, I was not disappointed. It's an amazing backpack with great quality shown throughout.
It has everything, and can cater to any user: everyday carrier, world traveler, digital nomad, camera professional, etc. It has so many features that can be used or put aside depending on your need for the a specific day or trip.
This bag will make you excited to travel and get work done. It's also nice just knowing you have something so reliable.
The only criticism I have has already been echoed throughout other reviews, and that is: the weight and straps. These kind of go hand-in-hand, but the backpack is a bit heavier due to materials and the straps could be a bit larger or more padded. However, with some smarter packing and minimalism, it can be overlooked given this bag is still 5 stars in performance.
Thank you Peak Design, for your thoughtfulness and innovation.

The one and only for my travelling

This backup solved my problems of how to get camera gear, computer and clothes in a compact and smart form factor. There simply was no other backpack out there that was designed so well - and I've really been through countless websites to find my backpack. Now I'm about to go on a world trip with this bag uploading to YouTube as often as I can. Your bag will definitely at some point be highlighted: https://youtube.com/thomaskjems
And it already is, check the photo.
I'm trying my hardest to think about anything bad to write - maybe I'll have something for you when I use it every single day for the next 1,5 years or more. I'll give you a heads up. For now, thanks for creating such a great product - I know I paid for it but you still designed it. So thanks for that.
Cheers,
Thomas
I would recommend this to a friend!

FANTASTIC BAG TO TRAVEL WITH
on November 23, 2018

Just received the whole enchilada set (Travel backpack, all the pouches and the cubes) and just took it for a 3 day trip. Worked amazingly well. The cubes and pouches allow for so many options to organize and carry your stuff. Took wash pouch, tech pouch, medium packing cube, and small camera cube. Kept everything organizing and fit nicely in the bag. Definitely recommend.

Another Game Changer

Prior to hearing the announcement of the Travel Line, I was browsing around the market for a larger sleek, rugged, well-designed camera and travel bag. I had used the Everyday Backpack for random short excursions since it came out, but I needed something a bit more beefier and easier to access my gear. This Travel Backpack was exactly, EXACTLY what I was looking for. Incredibly well-designed and the black looks super stealthy (i.e. sexy).
The modular system in combination with both the Packing Cubes and Camera Cubes completely changed the way I packed for my trips and shoots. It's a lot more organized, allowing me to fit a lot more clothes, and more importantly I can still get access to my gear while the bag is still on my back! The tuck-away shoulder straps is one of my favorite features of the bag, as it turns your bag into a very minimalistic duffle-style bag. This came in super useful during my flight as the airlines forced me to check my bag and I have the option to cleanly tuck away the straps to minimalize snags and damage from their rough handling.
I recommend getting more than one of the Small and Medium Packing Cubes to allow more organizational flexibility. Unless you expand and really cram one of the cubes with your clothes, you can stack two and maybe three cubes on top of each other and it'll still close.
Get this bag. You won't regret it.
FYI: I order the “Whole Enchilada” Kickstarter package, which comes with one of everything within the Travel Line.

Great bag, hard to carry it.

One of the best bags I've ever tried, holds a lot. My only issue with the bag is the straps carrying more than 20 pounds with the bag feels uncofortable, I wish there was a way to upgrade the straps for a more padded and wider option for heavy weight carry so that I can use the full 45L capacity.

Great bag
on November 29, 2018

Just got the bag and most of the accessories and took it on a short trip with a hotel stay. Bag worked out great. I'm going to be upfront about my main point. Peak Design needs to work on the comfort of the bag when it is full. The shoulder straps are stiff and thin. They are too lightly padded. For a trip that had a lot of walking, I would go with an Osprey or another pack with better suspension.
Other thoughts:
1. Good build quality
2. Tech pouch is a bit big, needs handle on top.
3. Wash pouch hang hook makes for awkward hang while open. I will see if it grows on me.
4. Packing cubes are great, but the handle is on the back of the cube which is opposite gap between the zippers. Small stuff could fall out while carrying.
5. I'd like to see a key lanyard inside a zippered pocket.
6. The chest strap and the hip belt buckle system needs some work. It is difficult to quickly take the waist belt and chest straps on and off and to tighten them. The hardware is metal but perhaps plastic snap buckles would be a better choice.
7. Velcro on the ID pocket doesn't work very well, needs to be better quality or bigger.
8. Wouldn't mind better organization in the upper zippered pocket. It could use a bit of dimension on a few of the other internal pockets.
9. I haven't used the other stuff yet, but they look great.
So, being hyper critical about the bag which I do really like so far, but I hope this will improve the product. I do realize that pros and cons are very personal.
