Family Vacation Lesson: Packing Cubes for the Win

Our family recently took our first vacation to Southeast Asia for three weeks, which gave me my first chance to use the Peak Design Packing Cubes. We changed hotels every 3 to 4 days, so being able to move hassle-free with our luggage was an important factor for me. However, my wife and kids were not convinced. When they saw my packing cubes, they called me the “bag clown” and decided to just toss their stuff in the luggage and be done with it. After a week, they began searching frantically for specific items and trying to find fresh clothes. This only got worse over time.
My experience with the packing cubes was completely different. The various colors and sizes helped me immediately identify where everything was. As soon as something wasn’t fresh anymore, I moved it to the back of the cube. When it was time to change hotels, the only items I needed to pack were those that didn’t belong in the cubes, like toiletries and tech gear. A major source of travel stress was simply gone. By the end of the holiday, my wife was eyeing my packing cubes enviously.
I’ve had the Peak Design Packing Cube for about a month now and used it on a five-day trip. The two-compartment system is incredibly convenient, eliminating the need for a separate bag for dirty clothes. Overall, I’m really happy with it. It holds much more than I expected, thanks to the compression feature.
Purchased packing cubes for my wife after her seeing my packing cubes. She loves them and uses them a lot! Looking forward to using them on all her travel.
Love em, they work perfectly and fit into many bags of different sizes but two things I would change #1 make the zippers locking and #2 the compartment for the dirty clothes should open the same way as the main compartment as in a lid opening or clamshell if you will to make packing dirty clothes easier, other than that I love these cubes. Writing this review as I'm currently on a trip in Florida with a medium and small packing cube
I have about 10 cubes now of various sizes. Lots to love about these including sizes, functionality, and also quality. Two major issues are price (they just aren't competitive with other brands) and nothing will stick to them. That can be great (stays clean), but the bad is you can't put tape on it to label them. This is a huge pain if you have a bunch of them in a bag. Some other brands are now transparent which would also help.
