Perfect to EDC Anywhere!

This pack replaced my NutSac computer bag and my gym duffel bag into a sleek, comfortable EDC bag for any occasion. It’s come with me to Costa Rica, hiking, the gym, and every day to the office. With the organizers, it’s seriously tough to beat. The modularity is unlike most bags in its weight class. The one glaring con is that the material on the bag’s straps began pilling/fraying almost immediately. Not only is this frustrating, but it makes the bag look cheap and rough when it truly is not. If this were remedied, it would be an easy five stars. Also, another small nitpick is the water bottle pockets are a bit narrow.
I would recommend this to a friend!

One of the better parts of 2020

I purchased the 15L back in February when I was suppose to go to Italy in mid March. Well that trip didn't happen, but a bunch of little day trips did in 2020 and this bad boy came with me. Packing a Sony A7 body, 50 mm lens, GoPro7, batteries, accessories, tripod, and gimbal for the GoPro. Yes, that all PACKED into this bag! The chest strap really helped make it comfortable to carry it all throughout the day. Would I buy this again? Yes, I'd personally go a bit bigger now. However, I bought this size because I was going to be traveling throughout Italy over a couple of weeks. Do I recommend this bag? Yess!

Downsized from 20L to 15L

I used used to use the 20L everyday backpack V1 and V2, then i got the 15L everyday backpack zip in bone colour. Its size is way suitable for me as a 168cm tall Asian. The capacity is fine for my everyday carrying, but not if you carry a lot of A4 sized stuff this may be less suitable compared with the 20L. The main slight noticeable feature are the zips that makes top of the bag entry easier but no expansion like the 20L. Also there's no magnetic back to home the straps in the body. Beware that then bone colour does get dirty easily

Nicely designed, except for the laptop compartment

When they said it fits a 13 inch laptop, I didn’t expect my 12.5 inch work laptop to not fit without hardcore jamming in. Even the 13 inch MacBook Pro only fits snugly. Perhaps design a slightly bigger laptop compartment so it’s not just limited to MacBooks?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Holding Up

I’ve owned the black 15L bag for nine months. I bought it to replace a basic Timbuk2 backpack for everyday use and travel. It’s accompanied me on domestic and international trips, many grocery runs, many miles by bike, large festivals, trips to the office, conferences, and other uses.
Overall I do recommend it. The materials are high quality and the design is thoughtful, as one would expect from PD. The structure is sturdy and the components are durable. The ability to strap things on the outside of the bag works really well. The grab handles on the top and sides are very comfortable and sturdy, making it a good option for carrying it for long periods of time vs wearing it. The webbing is like that of a seatbelt strap - high quality. The zipper design is a lifesaver when you’re in tight quarters (like sitting in coach) and need to grab something that’s in the bottom of the bag. The shoulder straps that are on a rivet so they pivot. All of these kinds of features add up to a bag that’s functional and versatile.
Things I don’t love / think could be improved: - It needs a strap retention solution. The webbing flies and flutters when you’re doing something like riding a bike. - The material pretty much always has a “dusty” look to it. It’s hard to describe, but even when I received the bag new I noticed this. For example, every time I put it under the seat in front of me in an airplane, it comes out with a bunch of white powdery looking stuff on it that requires some significant wiping to get clean. For this reason, the bag lends itself to a more utilitarian look, instead of the svelte aesthetic I was personally after. - The sternum strap clip is metal and this can be slightly dangerous. It has whacked me in the head more than once and it really hurts. If you sling the bag around to take a seat in a tight airplane or bus for example, you could easily hit someone and if you caught them somewhere like an eye or a tooth it could actually hurt someone. It does clip onto the strap when not in use but it will inevitably come loose and just dangle, so you have to be mindful. - I don’t use the individual dividers. It’s fine in theory but at least for the 15L version and the things I carry, that level of organization is overkill. - While the straps are great for external carry, I would LOVE to see PD release some kind of cargo carry product, like a mesh or bungie netting that attaches to the external sewn loops. This would greatly increase the carry capacity and take the functionality of the bag to the next level. - The key carry system is a gimmick to me. Personally ,just give me a normal key loop sewn to the bag somewhere.
I own bags from the likes of Deuter, Gregory, Osprey, and Timbuk2, and while they all have their place, I do think PD does enough to set themselves apart for urban and travel use. I’ve used the bag heavily and have been impressed. From the looks of it, it will continue to roll me for the next few years at least.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love peak design

I love all the details of these bags, I ordered a 15l zip bag in navy blue because the 20l v1 I had just became too heavy with all my gear. I am much happier with the 15l with the exception of the straps they're hard and thin, they definitely need more padding as they dig right into the front of my shoulder bones. It would be awesome if peak design could make some attachable padding to the straps like fjallraven makes for their bags. Other than that I love the bag, its versatility and pockets!

Fantastic all-around camera bag

I purchased this bag because I love everything about Peak Design and I preferred the aesthetic of the zip to that of the Everyday Backpack (EB). The design, in particular the accessibility, is second to none. However, if I knew then what I know now, I would have purchased the EB instead of the Zip because of one feature—the magnetic shoulder straps. My understanding was that it was just a different design, not a step down from the EB. I travel a lot and thought the Zip would have them, but it didn’t. I used a friend’s EB and it makes a big difference for keeping things neat and orderly when stowed on a roller-board.

Awesome EDB!
on January 12, 2020

I bought the 20L when it was first released and have used it as my EDB ever since. I store my peak tech bag in the bottom, the middle allows you to fit a camera and 1 or 2 lenses, and the top allows a change of clothes or misc things you are carrying.
I keep a surface pro in the sleeve but it is hard to access and a little tight when the bag is full, the zipper should travel a little further down giving a bigger opening and making it a little easier to get stuff out of the laptop compartment. Never the less I also keep my external drive, mouse, and adapter in the little pockets in the laptop compartment.
Water bottle pockets are huge!
I am glad Peak decided to add a zip version of this bag!
