Received mine in the mail today, it’s the L-XL and it’s comically huge on my head. It also feels stiff, which makes sense as it has a plastic-feeling shelf wrapped around it. I do wish it had come with a charging table, but with my own USB-C to C in the Mojave Desert sun, my Anker battery pack gets a peak of 8W of charging out of it, but my phone does much worse, fluctuating wildly, but never peaking beyond about 2.5W. My Shargeek 170 reports charging capping at around 7-8W as well. This is at lunch-time with about as much sun as I’m going to get, so I’m guessing that’s what I’m going to get out of it. It really does require direct sunlight, even the littlest bit of shade tanks production to, at most a half a watt, usually closer to 0.2. But that makes sense. I’m sure I might be able to eek a bit more out if with proper positioning on my head. Did I mention it was comically large? Does cover my eyes and face against the sun, mesh aside. While I didn’t really notice the weight, but it has a very plastic feel. Still it does what it says it would. I’ll likely find a pole or tent edge to post it on, unless I was out for a long walk
So it works. Might need some additional time on the drawing board, maybe an included cable, or a small detachable battery pack, or maybe a more accessible price. But it’s fun enough to warrant a try, if you’re willing to.
