Had the initial crowd-funding everyday backpack 30L Charcoal. The first batch material was great except for the back mesh material that worn and torn after some use. Got PD to look into that matter and PD sent me a replacement version 2 but the shoulder strap torn barely attached to the rest of the bag, and the internal storage pockets reduced. The external bag designs can bet better and more unique (future proofing)
I bought Everyday Backpack 30L on Jan 2024, it is literally the best daily backpack I've have had. The design is great, the side-openning make it very easy to grasp camera and shoot photos. You can always reorgnize the inside with the divider. I took it with me to CES 2024, it's great to fit all my camera gears, Macbook Pro, iPad, cables, clothes and food. It's durable, and very comfortable even with heavy weight inside. As a frequent traveller, the side opening make it very easy to check out at security checking site. Highly recommend for photographer, technology worker, frequent traveller!
I have the 30L in Black, and I've only had this for 6 weeks so I have not used all the features yet.
The Black color is all-black on the outside, which I love.
The 30L size is perfect for winter. During winter I also carry a sweater, gloves, beanie, earmuffs, headlamp, and scarf inside the bag, in addition to everything else. In summer I would carry a lightweight layer plus a large water bottle, which would take a similar amount of space but a different configuration of the dividers inside. While in theory I might be able to fit all of this into the 20L if fully expanded, I think the 30L is a better fit for me.
Being able to use the provided straps for securing tall items in the external side pockets means I can have a large umbrella in the external side pocket and it won't fall out or wobble. I haven't been able to do this with other backpacks.
Another great feature is the anti-theft zippers.
The laptop storage area is excellent. I really love how the laptop compartment can be raised for easy access for smaller laptops like my 14-inch MacBook Pro. Near the laptop is also space for documents, and some pouches for organization.
I also purchased the Hip Belt accessory and use it during longer walks (I sometimes walk for my commute back). It works very well with the backpack.
The external carry straps are very versatile. I haven't tried carrying anything crazy yet, just a tall winter jacket.
However, if Peak Design makes a V3 of this bag a few years down the line, one feature I would like to see is something similar to Osprey's LidLock to make it extremely quick and easy to attach a helmet. I know this is a one-trick pony request and it could be a separate optional accessory, but that is the only feature of Osprey that I miss.
I really love this thing, a perfect daily driver, everything organized, easy to find and super secure, you definitely nailed this thing, thank you PeakDesign!!!
I'm 3 years into using my second everyday backpack, after getting 4 years out of my first one. This generation bag has been perfectly durable, hardly any signs of wear, no technical or quality problems, and I still think it stands out in a huge crowded market that has sprung up around camera bags. The 30L is the perfect bag for my telephoto lens and I love the versatility that the interior offers. Wondering if I'll ever need a 3rd one?
As a student i can say that this backpack is perfect for daily use. The way it is designed is really good to keep everything organized and accessible. The materials are pretty resistible, my only complaint is that the main metal lock (or however you call it) get scratched easily. But besides that I really recommend it.
Brought several months ago to replace my travel backpack. I got the 30L. So far so good. The video was great in helping me set it up for the first time. Was just a tiny bit deep so fitting under the seat so upon return moved the dividers at a slight slant a fit fine. Might depend on the airlines and class. love. the adjustable depth for my laptop and not need to bring an extra sleeve for it. Same area ac combated my reader. easy to access as I tend to return with everything packed top the max. Easy cleanable material and love the straps to attach a coat or my rumple( down blanket). love all the pockets. The latch I can do one handed now that I have mastered it and I do have arthritis. love that the straps are kept in place when not in use by magnets, so m much more manageable. I'm sure I will find the best spots for favorite things in the multiple pockets.
