Loved it for over two years, then semi-retired it.

I’ll start with this: this bag is gorgeous and innovative. I have the 20L version, and it was my first high-end bag. Having come from using a more basic backpack that really didn’t suit my needs (my use case is as a tech bag), I was instantly enamored with this one. I used one origami divider simply as a shelf, stuffed my tech bag in the lower third, and used the upper section for ANC headphones and iPad. Laptop compartment was very tight width-wise for my older, thinner 2019 16” MacBook Pro but, ultimately, it worked. Keys and miscellany were tucked into the quick access pocket up top and, in the side panel slip pockets, I kept pens, business cards, a pocket comb, and a couple other small, slim items.
Things began to get a little dicey, though, when I needed to carry my personal laptop and my work laptop (work laptop is old, but had proprietary software I need; personal laptop has much better productivity software as downloads on the work laptop are restricted); I’d have to downsize my personal to my 13” MacBook Air and then force the two into the laptop compartment (one in the tablet sleeve, the other in the dedicated laptop sleeve). It never damaged either computer but I often thought it would at some point. This was also a heavy load; more on that below when I discuss the cons.
Over time I began to notice other flaws. Perhaps “flaws” isn’t the best word; it’s probably more subjective, but here’s what ultimately prompted me to semi-retire the bag.
Cons:
- Straps: too thin width- and depth-wise across the trapezius muscles. As mentioned, I had a heavier load and began to experience significant pain in my neck when wearing the bag for any length of time beyond just from the car to the office and back. I could no longer stomach the thought of traveling with this bag.
- Back panel: doesn’t conform well and is far too rigid with even a single laptop loaded; this creates pressure points on the back. Strap pain and rigid back panel made this altogether uncomfortable to wear.
- Side panel pockets: just not very functional. Really can’t fit much in there, and the zippered closure of the lower pockets that have small item slip pockets inside (memory cards, etc) didn’t provide much berth for getting things in and out. I gave up, stashed a flat comb in one side and didn’t even use the other one.
- Quick access pocket: volume eats into the capacity of the main compartment. Because the side panel pockets aren’t as functional as I’d like them to be, I ended up stuffing the top quick access pocket. This meant most of my small item volume was now sitting inside, and limiting the capacity of, the main compartment at the top, and limited what I could fit in that section. That space already isn’t all that big, so to have it restricted further was quite disappointing.
Pros:
- It’s gorgeous and fits the professional setting very well.
- Very high quality build; mine still looks basically brand new.
- Water bottle pockets are actually pretty nice. No issues with my 26oz Yeti.
- Probably works really well for what it was built for: photography.
- Is great if you have a light, single laptop and headphones carry, and the back panel rigidity isn’t a concern for you.
It took up until the last six months for me to finally accept that this bag wasn’t cutting it for me. As I mentioned, I was new to high-end bags and was so enamored with it initially that I just wasn’t yet aware of the issues. I still use it when I need to look very clean and professional, (it’s still the most beautiful bag I own) but it is no longer my daily carry and I only use it when I know I can pack light.
This bag was purpose-built for photographers though, so it could very well excel in that realm. I just can’t speak to that experience myself.
PD very clearly has a lot of talent on the design team and there are other products of theirs that I absolutely love; the Everyday Backpack just didn’t quite fit the bill after the honeymoon period.

I bought it one month ago and I’m so glad to purchase it. Everything is good but it makes me feel tired when I put a lot of items in it. I will give it 10 point if it has better carrying system.

Every single inch of this backpack has been thoughtfully crafted and designed with the user in mind. Multiple access points, convenient pockets, and magnet system are some of the main components and reasons why I will never use another backpack every again. Worth every penny and then some

Loving this bag!

The peak design bag 20L is an amazing bag for travel. i can fit a modest size kit in the lower two compartments and leave the top compartment for a little extra like a jacket, snacks or basic necessities while out for the day exploring . I do also like the V1’s slimmer profile since the V2 is a little thicker and bulgy due to the larger laptop compartment.

Great bag

I love this bag like many of the peak design products. I would go r this bag 4.8 out of 5 and the only reason it’s not 5 out of 5 is because of the internal side pockets. I wish they didn’t change the internal side pocket and left it like on the v1 with full side zipper. The top magnet pouch is virtually unusable because the magnet gets detached all the time and if you put anything thicker than a piece of paper it falls out. Hopefully they will update this design in the future.

Very good bag. A bit complex but after some test I found the prefect combo for my gear and you can even change it pretty easy

Quality backpack

I can tell that a lot of time & effort has been put into the design of the Everyday backpack. The features and usability feel like they’re designed by people who are photographers. Nothing feels cheap. One gripe is that the black picks up dust and gets dirty easily. Also could potentially have more shoulder padding in the strap?
