I bought this bag when it was on Kickstarter. I currently use it as my everyday carry bag. I'm not a big fan of the side access style but that's a personal preference of mine and not a con on the bag. So far I only have two minor cons with the bag. Both relate to the straps. First is that the straps do seem to need to be adjusted regularly. Apparently putting it on and taking it off a lot causes some travel but it's not a big deal. I just readjust when I realize they have gotten more loose than I like. The second is the plastic strap keepers. Recently while putting on the backpack, one of mine broke. I guess it was somehow bound and I didn't realize it. I would like for these to have been made of metal like the other parts on the bag and they may have prevented my situation. However, none of these issues are that bad. I'd probably give the bag 4.5 stars overall but that wasn't an option, so I rounded up to 5 since my cons are so minor. Overall I really like this bag and don't regret my purchase for a minute. Also, Peak Design support when you do have an issue is awesome.

The Peak Travel Backpack after 30,000 miles
on May 3, 2019

I've had this bag since it came out on Kickstarter last November. I have used it on over 10 trips so far both international and domestic. This bag is more expensive than any of the alternatives but without a doubt the best materials, best constructed bag I have ever owned.
The bag - cloth and zippers - are the best quality of any bag I have used. The bag is heavier than the others I have owned for the same size but I will accept that weight as a consequence of the materials and design.
You have multiple access to almost any part of the bag - front, sides, and back. There are four internal, zippered pockets on the inside of the front for organizing small stuff and and easy access small zippered pocket on the outside top of the bag. You can unzip the divider between the front pockets and the large rear storage but the gem for me is the fully u-shaped zippered semi-rigid back panel that makes loading and unloading extremely easy.
No bag is perfect. The snaps to reduce the internal volume are NOT designed for old thumbs and so will never be used by me. I found the chest strap a little fiddly (more work to use than expected) than the typical plastic snaps straps most bags have but can be repositioned on the shoulder straps to fit a range of people. I am warming to it.
I would definitely say that this bag is not for everyone. There are many bags that are good and good enough. But if you want the top of the line then you should check out the Peak Travel Backpack.

Aloha all! Chase Caffey from “dawnpatrol.com” here - I just wanted to say that I LOVE the Travel Backpack. It has made my airplane flights a breeze! The extra zippers to increase space really come in handy on the “unexpected” extra items that usually get brought home. This packpack is a keeper and I am excited to see how long it last.

Amazing bag!

I recently purchased this bag as I was heading to South Africa and was looking for a bag that would travel well as a carry on so my camera stuff would make it safe and sound. This bag way outperformed my expectations! I carried this bag all over the place, whether walking around Cape Town or in the safari vehicle in Kruger, this bag was an all star. Cannot recommend this bag enough!

Work and Travel Bag

Work in the events industry and as a freelance videographer. Perfect bag for lugging around gear and still being comfortable. Not having to worry about things getting wet is great. The design is well thought out and I'm finding myself using all the individual pockets and zips frequently. The compression spots are seriously useful when needing to minimise size for packing into vehicles. Definitely worth it's money.

Since I liked the everyday backpack for photography tours a lot, although there's a bit room of improvement, I backed the travel backpack with high expectations. But I am not as fully content as expected. A few points: - under a bit of load (not very heavy) the press buttons unfortunately don't hold, hence carrying the smaller sized looking backpack unfortunately didn't work for me - if you swing the backpack round to remove the camera from the side the backpack slides much easier off your shoulder, especially if you carry the weight of a tripod on the other side - the shoulder straps can't be as conveniently adjusted as before, they don't slide as smoothly, - the side pocket for the tripod is less wide than that from the everyday pack and unfortunately, it's quite hard to fix it into the pocket, that was more convenient with the everyday backpack - one can only access a camera from one side, being able to access at least one more lease would be great - for travelling/on board luggage it works great, storing of laptop and other devices is really good, storing of shoulder straps too - while traveling one usually only takes one (camera) backpack at a time and although the travel backpack nicely fulfils all usual travel/cabin luggage needs and has a good size, it is close but still not perfect as a camera backpack while being at your destination, for example the hip strap ist not padded well enough for carrying it a long day

AWESOME Travel Bag

I've had this bag for six months now and this thing is great! Material handles well (still looks as new as the day I bought it). And this bag can just keep taking whatever I throw in it. 40L is a huge bag and this bag just keeps taking and taking everything I throw in it. This bag makes traveling soooooo much easier. For future enhancements, maybe release this same bag (with same features) in a 28-30L (with snaps to 20-22L) so it'll fit under the seat in front of you on a plane (for those shorter trips).
