great-looking product ruined by poor fit (again)

I bought the original LinkBuds ~6 months ago and was excited to see the line revamped, so I jumped on the pre-order for these. On paper, these headphones sound perfect for me - I need a passive device I can wear in the office, or while skating outside, that doesn't interfere with ambient sound.
Unfortunately, the poor fit of these earbuds has me immediately returning them (as I eventually did for the older gen pair). Sony's marketing claims they've found a simple shape that fits everyone's ears but.... they just don't work for me. Granted, I'm not your average-sized person - I'm 6'4'' and would wear a medium-double-tall if clothing manufacturers made that. Despite that, until these two Sony products (the original LinkBuds, and now these LinkBuds Open), I have _never_ bought a pair of earbuds that didn't fit me - others with similar wingtip designs (my old jaybirds, eg) work great.
I was shocked to see there weren't different size wing adapters in the box when I opened it, and wondered if Sony was selling them separately, but no - they don't seem to exist. So after spending probably a half hour total with a mirror playing with the fit... Nope. It simply does not work for my ears. At best I can get the earbuds to sit comfortably for a few moments, until I take a bite of something, or tilt my head the wrong way (god forbid I try to take off a sweatshirt wearing them). If I wore these day-to-day I'd lose one within a week, guaranteed.
I'm reminded of how the US air force tried to make planes that fit "average" sized pilots until they found out, the hard way, that no individual pilot is actually "average" sized - and started designing adaptable planes instead. (read: https://mannhowie.com/average-pitfall)
It's too bad, because this is nice hardware, the concept is unique, and I wanted to love them. Guess I'll go back to the jaybirds (whose XL wingtips, which came in the box, fit just fine).

Does not work with Apple Products.

Third Pair, same result. How can you sell these claiming they work with Apple phones? I tried two different sets of the older model with my last phone and then when I got a new apple 15 and saw you upgraded these I thought I’d give them one more try. They fit great in my ears but less than 30ft into my first run I lost connectivity. I stopped and connected them again. Another 30ft or so and I lost connection again. This was the same problem I had with the two other versions I tried. Really too bad as these are the only air buds that fit my ears.

We're sorry for your trouble with the Sony LinkBuds Open. Issues, such as there is no sound or sound cuts out when using wireless connection may be caused by several factors. The communication between the devices will be poor if there is an obstruction between the unit and the connected device. As a suggestion, you may try following the troubleshooting steps below to resolve this issue.

• To ensure you get the best Bluetooth connection, please set the headphones Bluetooth Connection Mode to “Priority on stable connection” and see if it resolves the problem.
• Updating the headphones software to the latest version may resolve the issue. You can update the headphones software by using the Sony Sound Connect app.
• Reset and initialize the headset, and pair the headset and the device again.

Do research

I bought this headphones about 4 months ago and the speaker in the left side blow or something. Try contact sony for warranty and still nothing from them.

Original Version was Better

I had previous version of the LinkBuds Open and loved them. The various sizes of rubber fittings that came with the ear buds allowed you to change them out for a dialed in fit that was both comfortable and secure. Unfortunately, the left ear buds quit holding a charge after about a year of use. When purchasing a new pair, i discovered the design had changed.
In my opinion the new design is a regression from the original. There aren't adjustable fittings..just a one size fits all approach that attaches to a different part of the ear. This causes the ear buds to be far less secure when using them during physical activity such as trail running, hiking, and working in the yard. I can secure them to the part of the ear the original version was designed for, but it makes them less comfortable and changes the angle of how they rest in your ear, which reduces the sound quality. The design change wasn't warranted in my opinion..a classic case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Great in the office

My scenario for the LinkBuds Open is for using them in the office. I work in an open-concept office with a lot of others. I don’t want the sound from video calls to distract my teammates. I like listening to music while I work but don’t want to be isolated from peripheral conversations. I don’t like having something in my ear all day like AirPods or the constant weight of over-the-ear headphones, which I do use on occasion when I need sound isolation. The LinkBuds Open have solved many of my needs with its unique design and I enjoy them quite a bit.
I don’t find the fit to be perfect - takes a little adjusting from time to time and I don’t recommend them for walking around, at least not for my fit. I found the original LinkBuds to be a better fit. The sound is good, not great. But I use them daily and will definitely buy another pair when needed.

I have tried several different brands and models of buds and none have fit as well or as securely as Sony's Open Link buds. So glad I decided to try these, have not fallen out one time even when I'm active and the sound quality and ease of use is outstanding, yea Sony.

Improved version!

I originally own the first version of the Linkbuds and the left bud had a battery draining too fast issue, so Sony replaced them with this version.
Comparing with the previous version, here are the pros and cons.
Pros:
- Better sound quality, longer battery life, wide area tap is not that sensitive (with the previous version, if I was eating nuts, the crunching noise often activated the wide area tap.
Cons:
- Poor fit (for my left ear, it is very difficult to keep it in the holding position, so I need to keep adjusting it.)
- The wide area tap can be a little more sensitive for adjusting volume.
Overall, I still like these.
