Bought this months ago to replace a hardshell carry on, never going back. Innovative features that are actually useful. Sleek design.Has been on several trips to cities, camping adventures, and even as a day-hike backpack. High quality materias, not a single sign of wear despite major abuse. Cleans back to new every time. Straps can use a little more cushion when hauling huge weight over long periods but most of the time is fine. Cannot recommend this product enough.

I bought this for my boyfriend so that we could go on a backpacking trip together and it's perfect! It fits everything you need and more and has a great laptop sleeve. We both like the sleek look because it looks less touristy than most other travel backpacks. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great carry-on travel backpack.

Peak Design is the Apple of Camera Products

My first experience with Peak Design was a gift from a friend. It was the Canera Clip which I still used. Then I bought the Everyday Backpack V1 which became my favorite camera bag. Now I own 5 backpack of peak design. Each one has a specific usage. I can’t think on any other brand that has such a nice collection. The camera products such as de Clipper, the lense holder, the bracelet holder. Everything is incredible

Perfect carry on for extended travel

Large enough for 1 month summer tour of Europe. My wife and I both went without checking luggage. We replaced 15+ year old Eagle Creek bags (which we loved to death… but discontinued our favorite model) with Peak Design packs.

Took on a trip to Europe city hopping. Worked perfectly. I am a small person but manages to configure to fit my frame. Only feedback for the team is that I almost lost the chest strap a couple of times.

Love the 45L

We stuffed our bags with 9 days of clothes including a formal dress and traveled to 4 countries with no problem. We were able to use the bag as a carry on for all airlines which reduced our stress dramatically for fears of lost luggage when heading to my daughter’s wedding.
Well designed, durable and evenly balanced when you carry it.

Ok, with a few form-over-function design decisions

Bought this backpack to carry equipment to work each day, so I got some pretty immediate heavy mileage out of it. I ended up giving it to someone else and buying a different backpack. Overall, the whole pack seems to be designed to look pretty and depend heavily on the Peak Design cube system. Pros and cons:
PROS: - VERY spacious for its size; can hold a ton of gear. - Looks super cool. I can see why Peak Design is a photographer status symbol. - High grade materials with very high build quality. Feels solid. - Versatile storage - relates to one of my CONS below however
CONS: - Strap design is not comfy. Dug into my shoulders after several hours. Ok for short trips, but hurts after a long day. - no load lifter straps. For a travel backpack this should be a no brainer; similar sized backpacks have these as standard. - overly dependent on the Peak cube system. Lots of space in the central compartment, but out of the box organization is very limited. This might be a PRO for some people. - The size-down snaps are weirdly thought out and compress the backpack into an odd shape.
This would be a much better backpack if a few key concessions were made around how pretty it looks and put more into function. It's OK, might work well for you under very specific uses and if the strap design fits you better than it did me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Average Usability, but High Quality

Bought this because of side access and "ease" of getting to my gear. The side flaps do NOT open wide enough for the flaps to lay flat while accessing gear and try to close due to zippers not being quite long enough. The zippered pockets on the inside of each flap are fine, but the slide in one's do NOT hold anything in unless the pack is vertical...so a bit useless. The outside slide in pockets are not wide or deep enough to secure gear, although they both have securing straps. Their travel tripod should slide further down. Also, the side flap zipper gets caught on the corner of the main pack flap when trying to zipper one handed...so the main flap has to be pushed to the side. I was photographing to wet and windy conditions trying to access and store my R5 and attched lens quickly which was a challenge with this pack. High quality, but not perfect and does not hold much gear if you plan on having space for your coat or water bottle. It's close, but not quite there.
