This is a handy two-in-one saw!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this dual-purpose saw to keep in the the bag of Worx battery powered tools I keep in my vehicle (along with my Worx mini air compressor, etc.). I've used it for a couple of projects, and really like the way the reciprocating saw feature works (think Sawzall). It is of sufficient power and works well.
Where this tool falls down a big is when it's used in the jig saw configuration. Yes, it works, and I've completed a couple of projects with it. The issue is, that due to the design necessary to have a dual use, the jig saw lacks the little stabilizing wheel that rides on the back of the blade. Now the Worx dedicated jig saw has the wheel, so doesn't suffer the same problem. Which is, simply, that without that support, the blade can rather too easily become detached. Now, if one is careful to keep pressure applied to the cut, and makes sure the workpiece is held securely (tough to do with a thin piece of veneer, for instance) it does work. It works much better with thicker workpieces, but with thin, flexible materials, it may become frustrating.
In summary, this is a convenient two-in-one tool. And it does function "good enough" in both configurations, though best as a reciprocating saw. For keeping in a mini tool kit, it makes sense. Honestly, this is pretty much the only of many, many Worx tools that I don't highly recommend. It's handy, but if I had to do it over again, I'd purchase the dedicated Worx jig saw and reciprocating saw. Sorry Worx, this is a great idea, and if you could somehow engineer in a support wheel use in jig saw mode, it would be awesome. As it is, its good, but not great.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
