Great overall, with a few small problems

This is a great backpack. The shelf system and the side access is the biggest plus. You can totally stuff your backpack and still access everything in a way that would be almost impossible with a normal backpack. Also, the design is durable and high quality. Plus, the external carry straps and the loops they attach to are very useful. Great to have the option for a little more carrying capacity.
My small complaints are:
The water bottle pockets are a bit tight. I think just a little more stretch in the elastic would make things a lot easier.
A quick-access pocket on the outside of the backpack would be really nice. The pocket in the laptop compartment might serve that purpose, but for me, it's a bit tight to reach in there quickly, especially when the backpack is fully loaded.
The external carry straps are a great feature, but the way they attach to the backpack is a little cumbersome. They are very low profile and I think that's the idea, but it's difficult to get them on and off the loops.
The straps could be more comfortable. I have the 20L, so it never gets too heavy, but a little more padding on the straps would be nice. Also, there should be some dedicated spots on the strap to attach a Capture Clip. I found myself experimenting a bit and I ended up having to cover one of the spots to place the sternum strap (the lowest rung).
The zipper pockets on the side panels are too small. It's hard to reach in there when anything with some width is in the small internal pockets.
I would prefer the laptop compartment to be a little roomier. With a laptop and tablet in their, it gets a little tight.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've been using this bag for a couple months now - primarily as a work and commuting bag. Overall, I'd like to give it a 3.5. Let's start with the good points:
1) lots of thoughtful little pockets and hidden storage,
2) easy to open top compartment,
3) great use of magnets for straps and pockets,
4) usable vertically and horizontally
Now for what has left me a bit disappointed:
1) It doesn't look great - the material is probably durable but it looks a bit cheap. The black bag is boring - it would have been nice to have the brown accents. The magnetic clip that opens the top pocket is already starting to lose its black coating and I only use it about twice a week for office commuting
2) When traveling with it docked horizontally on a suitcase, the top compartment is almost unusable because stuff can fall out. Trying to access it with he side opening means you need to rummage to find what you want
3) Smaller things in the top pocket can slip past the velcro organisers
4) It's very tight getting a thin laptop and ipad air in the back section - not quick access if you have both
Overall, this is close to being great but I would not recommend it for work and commuting.

amazing backpack, few things I'd tweak are:

1) the adjustment straps are just dangling from the bag
2) the magnets keeping the shoulder straps attached to the pack when not wearing had come out of their socket and are freely moving under the fabric
3) a little front heavy, it can't stay upright and falls over even when placing it against something heavy.
That's kind of it, either way it's been great so far.

THE Best Backpack!

I spent a LONG time looking for the perfect bag and am so glad I came across this one. It's absolutely 100% worth the money because it's so high quality. The laptop pocket is way safer than other bags and there's the perfect amount of space for everything I need for work. The zippers and magnet closure are so great and it's really comfortable to wear while commuting through NYC. Highly highly highly recommend!!

Never have I had such a beautiful and functional camera bag! The bag is multi-purpose, you could not ask for a better functioning camera bag but it also doubles as an incredible everyday bag/travel bag.

very nice design (so you can see a lot of "modified copies" on the market).
One thing I wish is that it has the zip flap for inner side pockets just like V1 so my stuffs in those pockets won't flying around

When I first saw the design I knew I wanted it. I have taken it to multiple photo shoots and several states and it still looks as good as the day it arrived! I have since invested in several other PEAK products.

Having bought this a couple weeks ago, I was heavily indecisive between this pack and the WANDRD Prvke backpack. I decided to pick this one with the promises of high quality and detail. It did not disappoint, there is no doubt that the detail and quality in the materials chosen and the intricate details of the backpack truly make the pack stand out. I found it admirable that Peak is pushing the market in a different direction, I found the shelves to be a really interesting new way to use a backpack, approaching it from 3 directions as opposed to the primitive top sack opening. I also appreciated the magnetic touches on this pack, the mag latch and the little pocket locks are a really nice addition that is lacking in many techpacks these days.
I did however find some capabilities to be lacking of this pack, I felt that it was not the most intuitive camera carry, however its modularity allowed it to delve a little bit into photography gear carry, but enough to be able to be used for other cases. I did find my lenses to be too small and not secure in the shelves, sometimes my gear would slip down from the shelf to shelf too.
I think the straps need more love, I've seen plenty of reviews saying it isn't the best, and its integration with the capture clip could use some more love as well. I typically use most of the back day to day and the strap often leaves me a little sore.
