Cool and sleek bag

I just bought this black tote bag yesterday from a peak design authorize dealer in Singapore.. Didn't carry much of my stuff with me.. just my daily stuff in my peak design tech pouch equip with peak design slide to the shop. Design and materials are cool, simple and great, feels good to carry it around. After purchasing it.. stop at cafe to set up the dividers to get the interior compartments up. Was caught in the rain on my way to the taxi stand.. things in my bag remains dry. Had seen reviews on YouTube about the back ventilation issue but no problem with me.. I carry around with one back strap as it is suffiocient to hold close to my body well , another strap I just stuff it inside the hidden compartment (Plenty of ventilation).Happy with my purchase and experience with this tote backpack. I carry my phone and gaming console gears, blue tooth earphones in the tech pouch which goes into this tote backpack along with a set of jeans and shirt, safety glasses my stack of A4 size work files and notes in the laptop compartment. Fitted in just nice for minimum daily commuter carry.
Maybe few areas to improve:
- The zip top compartment at the top for quick access gets tight if got loaded up at the internal... Can have bigger and own dimension for this quick access compartment.
- Hope to see this tote backpack 2nd generation next time with slightly bigger capacity like 25 or 30 litres for different occasions and situation to hold more gears?
I would recommend this to a friend!

Beautiful, Well-Built Bag but Not Suitable for Everyone

First, the pros: The construction of the bag is fantastic. I love that the stiff materials and padding allow the back to stay upright on its own. The top handles feel great and I really like how they're contoured around the top of the bag. It's pretty sleek and luxe-looking. The stretchy mesh used throughout also feels great. It's really easy to wipe off dirt and the straps are pretty comfortable.
Before the cons, I should highlight this bag seems like it's designed for an on-the-go photographer/everyday carry hybrid. I was firmly using it as an EDC as I am not a photographer, and in my use case this bag kind of fell flat.
The cons: I was originally thrilled with the modularity of the bag due to the dividers, but I definitely ran into issues with the dividers/side access combo. The zippers do not run the entire length of the bag. Because of this, I couldn't easily access stuff at the bottom of the bag if I mounted a divider horizontally at the lowest setting. So I put the divider at the top, but then this made it really difficult to access the external pocket's contents because the dividers are really stiff and push outwards. I also wished the soft velcro extended all the way horizontally because I had a section for my 1L water bottle that was way too big even though the divider was as far to the side as possible. Finally, the smallest pockets inside the external pocket seem like they fit camera batteries/memory cards but nothing else because they're pretty tiny.

Wanted to Love but I just Like

I saw this bag and thought it would be perfect for me. I have a 16" MacBook Pro and I like to carry some camera stuff with me on occasion, I also wanted something that looked a little more upscale than a backpack for bringing to meetings. I do own an every zip 12L that I love, it just doesn't fit my laptop when I need it.
I think I would like it more if I didn't have the zip because what I don't like about the tote I love about the zip.
When the bag is packed full, it was really difficult for me to get my laptop in or out, like really really difficult.
Despite being a bigger bag, I felt like I could fit more in my 12L zip. The front pocket is so tight that it is borderline useless. I feel like I have to wrench things in and out which is just not a good experience. The side pockets do not open as wide, so I have to be more mindful of what I am putting in and where if I want easy access to it.
The bag looks nice but it is more of a brief pack than a tote pack; when I think tote I think of something I can put on my shoulder, that being said the leather handles are nice and easy to carry on your hand for the size of the bag but the magnets on mine are not strong enough to stay closed when I am using it as a backpack which takes away from how sleek the bag looks, the back straps are not as comfortable as the everyday packs.
The bag looks nice and is high quality like all peak design things, I just think it has a lot of compromises to be a tote that don't work for me personally. I will likely be trying to sell mine and maybe get an everyday backpack or the larger everyday zip.

Good but tight…

It’s a very good bag and I love it as a medical student I’m enjoying it, however I think it’s a little tight… I have an iPad Pro 11 inch, and MacBook 13inch. The laptop fits fine in the laptop sleeve however the iPad with the official apple portfolio case is hard to squeeze into the tablet sleeve. Hopefully they can update this design slightly as sometimes I don’t feel safe using the iPad sleeve in fear that it’ll damage my case due to the tightness. Overall I absolutely love this bag, being and international student it’s transformed how I travel! The space organisation in the bag is amazing.

Great bag but a little small

I want this bag to be perfect for me but it isn't quite there. I agree with what a few others have said about the 20L seeming pretty tight compared to other 20L bags. I'm small and wanted a backpack that could function as the only bag I took on trips--and I just can't make it work with this bag. Four stars feels a little harsh and I would go 4.5 if I could!
If you are truly using this as an every day or camera bag I think you'll love it. I found, compared to other PD items, a little lacking in organization and I haven't ended up using the dividers as they seemed to occupy precious space.
However, I love the laptop and tablet compartments, the design looks awesome, and the straps on the outside are a lifesaver when I have dared to squash it all into one bag--I just strap stuff to the outside, which particularly for the PD tech pouch works perfectly.
The white obviously gets dirty easily but cleans up pretty well. Super comfortable to wear and extremely well made.
No need for leather handles and accents PD :)

One pocket zipper is a problem
on January 17, 2020

First of, I bought this bag from Peak and had to cancel the order because it was in back order but the system didn't show that it was back ordered. Then I got it from a Peak design authorized dealer and got it on time for a trip to Madrid. This bag is comfortable, light, and spacious. And also it is safe for my photo gear. Now, the issue that I have with it is that the front pocket zipper isn't easy to close. The main reason being that the front part of the bag where the zipper is sitting gets a little wrinkle and you don't have hot to stretch the bag back to be stretch so you can close the zipper. So, if you were going to carry small stuff there like your glasses, your wallet, batteries etc... it is not practical, you can't do it with one hand, etc... so as a everyday carry... I don't recommend it.

wonderful backpack

I purchased a white one as a gift for my girlfriend who is currently a law student. She is required to bring big and heavy hard copy textbooks every day with her laptop. I am amazed by how much volume this back carries. you can load at least two 12"* 9" thick textbooks, a laptop, some notebooks, and her daily basics. well, adding up there are over 30 lb of weight challenges the straps. It does a wonderful job so far. the side pocket is so convenient and secured at the same time. She loves it and uses the bag every day. it does catch dirt and dust easily, and it is easy to clean if there some accidents. The bag full of design features it is a the nicest backpack so far.

Best backpack I've ever had
on June 9, 2020

This the perfect backpack, Peak Design's team has done a miracle. A whole world can go in there. Here's what I managed to fit in: my 600w godox flash, leica sl with 24-90 attached, 50mm 1.4, 100mm 2.8 macro, 13 inch laptop, flash batteries, spare camera batteries, pc cables and wallet. Shocking right? I couldn't believe it.
The bone color it's just great and even on me, I'm 5'2 tall, the backpack looks great, it's not too big at all, which is a problem I've always had with gear bags big enough to fit the stuff I need to carry.
I love the style so much that I've also purchased the tote bag v2 for when I need to carry less and use as a normal everyday bag too.
Well done, absolutely 10/10
