Great for dual monitors, but tell us how!

I love my screaming fast new computer. I just wish you had little info - somewhere - to explain how to set up a dual monitor system. After research I figured out that I needed to use the Display Port. I don't mind buying the cable, but being a home user with no experience - it took awhile to figure out what that funny looking port was for ! Its fantastic that its there and now my system is functioning beautifully with two monitors, but maybe add that to the quick setup information.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Desktop PC freezes repeatedly. Still troubleshooting. USB ports lock up if both wireless USB plug and a USB thumbdrive are inserted at same time.

Great home PC

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So people bust on me for buying a desktop PC and not a laptop. Well I guess I'm just old school. The HP Envy Desktop TE01-1165t PC is a great little machine. I love the dual hard drives and it was a breeze to setup. I work with PCs for a living so I'm a little bias on the breeze part but I'm very confident that even the most novice will find it very user friendly. I don't do a lot with my PC but it is great for Adults who are running a home and kids looking for some gaming action. I play Steam games and the response of the PC is great! I know Win 10 is big part of the overall experience but the hardware is extremely complimentary to the Win 10 OS. It came with a beautiful wireless keyboard and mouse. They feel and look very modern. Only a little issue. The "0" on the number keypad on the right of the keyboard sticks a little bit but not a big deal. I'm going to call and see if I can get it replaced. Overall that is the only detractor to this PC. I also purchased a beautiful HP 27" PC and it compliments the PC beautifully.

A lot of bang for the buck

I always did like HP over all the others. This is not my first one. They all ran grate and I still have them in working order. This one is the faster of them all. Plays all the games I play on max settings and still keep the fps maxed out on all the games. Boots up in a few seconds, load games fast and I have them on the 1 TB HDD. The OS is on the SSD, But the computer has no lag at all, and is faster then I thought it would be while gaming, Everything on this computer is really fast, I will keep buying HP computers for a long time, So are they are the best out of all the computers I had in my life time so far,

Great little machine with lots of upgradability
on October 29, 2021

This is a great machine that I purchased to replace my previous machine which was about 6 years old at the time.
Pros
- Very small case, it can fit in even the smallest of desks.
- In spite of it's small form factor, there is a surprisingly high upgradability.
- 400W 80 plus gold PSU
- At the time of purchase, the tech specs stated that it would come with Win 11 installed. When I received it and booted it for the first time, I was happily surprised when I was greeted with the Win 10 welcome screen! I thought I would be stuck with a new OS and it's inevitable new bugs, but was happy with this outcome.
- The GTX 1660 super is perfect for 1080p gaming at med/high settings which is my preferred way of gaming.
- The included wireless keyboard and mouse are decent, and helps keeps a clean look for any setup.
- They also included screws for an extra hard drive and an extra M3 screw for the M.2 slot! So many prebuilt machines fail to include these little extras, so I want to give HP credit for doing something small, but makes a huge difference to the end-user.
- Wifi card is preinstalled in the other M.2 slot and doesn't have cables connected to the front panel, which makes getting into the machine much easier.
- TONS of USB type A ports! 4 superspeed ports on the front, 2 5 Gb and 2 10Gb, 4 USB 2.0 ports on the rear. The included SD card reader is also quite convenient.
Cons
- While the case was designed to allow decent air flow, it does not take advantage of it. The black bracket in the case has pre-drilled holes to allow a intake fan to be installed, however there isn't one, and the way the holes are spaced out, it's for a 70mm fan, which is a very odd, and rarely used fan size. Also there is only one chassis fan connector on the motherboard and it's a 3 pin. I would've liked to see a 4 pin that way the fan speed could be controlled instead just spinning at it's maximum all the time.
- The ram my machine came with was only single rank, so the chips were only on one side. This was not stated on the tech specs for the machine and I believe it should be. I was going to upgrade the ram anyway, but it would've been nice to know for sure.
- The sata cables are the rarely used left angle connectors. This was a strange choice, but for whatever reason, the way the sata ports are on the motherboard and where the hard drives are mounted, you have to use a left angle sata cable. Due to this, my right angle sata cables have the 90 degree side connected to the motherboard, and I have to twist the other end to connect it to my other hard drives.
- There are only two sata power connectors, so to install more than 2 sata devices you would have to get a Y splitter cable.
- There is only one PCIe x16 slot for the GPU, but the only other PCIe slot is only x1 and there are very limited cards that would be useful to install. I wish it was x4 or more.
- Only one M.2 slot for NVMe SSD and it's located pretty far away from the PCIe slots and CPU which is also another odd placement choice. If they could put another slot right above the GPU that would be perfect for the main boot drive.
Now most of this review would only be relevant to users that want to upgrade their machine. I imagine most people would not go as far as I have. But I think having this information out there will help others decide which machine to buy.

Great PC with plenty of Performance at a superb price.

With Windows 11 OS preinstalled the time to boot and log in is far improved from the Windows 10 PC we were previously using. That's a huge improvement. It has plenty of processing power and is excellent for all browsing and application usage. We are very pleased with this PC except for the ON/Off button. It appears the styling won over practicality in the power button design. The power button is recessed and very thin causing a difficulty when trying to start and stop the PC. It appears to be sized and designed based on the case design rather than ergonomics. My wife and I find this to be a surprise since all other components and performance are excellent and at a very attractive price. The on/off power button on the front case should be larger and easier to use.

Great machine

The machine is great. Best PC I’ve ever had. The problem is that the salesman told me that the USB-C port was Thunderblot compatible. It wasn’t. Again, the unit does what it is made to do but I needed Thunderbolt.
