Good Speakers But Did Not Wow Me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the JBL Bar 5.0 Multibeam about a week or two ago. JBL makes amazing products, and they tend to be very user friendly and easy to setup. I was surprised though that I had difficulty setting up this speaker to my TV and Roku. I eventually figured it out.
It is no doubt that this speaker improves the TV sound. The sound is more full and sounds great in the lows and highs. Watching the News or a show where dialogue is the main focus, this speaker helps you hear the speech clearly, but I could not tell much of a difference between it and my TV speakers. But whenever watching a movie or show with more action or drama, this speaker really does shine. When listening to music on the speaker, I found it lacking compared to some other JBL portable speakers, but this speaker is intended more for watching TV.
Overall I found this speaker better than the TV speakers, but it did not wow me. Maybe I was expecting too much from the surround sound features.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great bass from a sleek setup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, for the size of this soundbar, the bass is pretty great, as no extra subwoofer would be needed for most rooms. I have a 40 inch TV in my room and this bar fits well in front of it. The sound fills the room very well, and honestly can even fill an entire living room just fine. I love that it has controllable bass, once turned up, it is pretty great! I like that I can stream to this bar at any time through my phone as it's always on standby, so instantly I can connect through my favorite music streaming service. One thing, however, it seemed like the HDMI connection to a TV did not carry as good of sound. Overall, for the price, this soundbar easily can be the only system needed for a home theater!

Great sound for apartment dweller!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This bar solved one of the issues I had: I needed good sound in front of my TV standing on a shelf. Then, the soundbar had to be low to the surface so as not to block the image.
This soundbar looked to fit the bill properly, and it does with one issue (with silver lining). I adjusted bass to max (hold HDMI button for a bit, then just use volume buttons up/down), and even then there was not enough bass. I wish it came with or could be connected to a separate subwoofer, that would make this a perfect soundbar. Sadly, I am having to listen to my movies and sound with a bit less bass than what I hear through, say, my headphones.
There is a silver lining to this, though. Because bass is not pronounced (but well audible), you won't bother your neighbors as much while watching a movie or listening to your tunes.
I'd recommend this soundbar if you live in an apartment. It's compact, sounds great otherwise, and won't bother your neighbors as much!

It also can do the smart speaker things like alexa, google, etc, but I haven't used it for that purpose, so can't tell how well the microphones pick up voice.

Great for simplicity, lacks some sound quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off if you are looking for something simple and just to get a little edge on your terrible TV speakers this is a great buy. However if you are looking for an actual quality sound I say you should look elsewhere.
The first thing I noticed is that this sound bar is very forward on dialogue and for that I actually like this. I feel like most full sound systems the dialogue is where it gets lost unless you really have the speakers quite loud. So for my living room TV where I usually watch sports, newscasts and Youtube videos this was a great addition. Also my TV speakers are quite terrible so this was a great way to introduce just a bit of extra sound throughout the hearing range.
Next this speaker has all the great new features including bluetooth, wifi, chromecast, dolby surround and even Earc. With all this you even get auto room correction where the speaker will play some sounds and calibrate the sound to your room. I highly recommend that everyone that buys this speaker do that right away before listening to anything. As before I did the calibration my side speakers were extremely louder than the front. So if you were sitting off to the side you would get sharp loud sounds and just by walking around there was no blend between the speakers there were harsh lines where you could tell which speakers are playing.
Lastly the sound for music or for just enjoyable listening there is much to be desired. The bass begins to clip very early in the volume range and lowering the bass does little to help this along. The mids are clear until you really start to push it and then they really lose quality and detail. However the highs are quite detailed and clear no matter how much you push the speaker. Lastly I am very happy to see that the quality is quite unchanged when changing inputs from wifi, bluetooth or HDMI.
In the I would recommend this for anyone that needs an upgrade to their TV speakers, but if you are speakers are ok this speaker will not wow you in the least. As my OLED TV has a fairly similar sound quality and loudness. I will keep using this on my TV with bad speakers but will look for something else when it comes to my OLED.
