TV speakers on a Vizio 65" Smart TV had blown out. Purchased the 5.0 Soundbar to override the defective audio delivery on the TV. Though there were problems getting the Soundbar and the TV to synch up, this was accomplished and the results are great. Especially when playing back music, this unit excels. Have other JBL devices that provide exceptional fidelity, and the Bar 5.0 MultiBeam does not disappoint.
A physically small sounder with good sound, but almost no ability to control beyond overall volume, bass volume, and Atmos on/off. I purchased this to improve the sound quality for TV, movies, and digital music. I find that the sound for movies is better than TV speakers, but the other 2 categories are roughly a wash. Additionally, I hoped it would help with voice (it does have a center channel speaker), but have not noticed much improvement there either.
I bought this a month ago as a replacement for a large receiver that served as my 'media consolidator'. I live in a manhattan apartment where sub woofers are frowned upon. So I needed something that brought the voice track forward without every shootout suddenly shaking the walls. The bar 5.0 MultiBeam has done exactly that, I can now enjoy movies and tv with a much fuller sound without having the 'volume up/down' remote in my hand to adjust for different scenes. I also have a somewhat complex media setup - I use an FireCube + AppleTV combo to be able to watch IPTV, Amazon Media, Netflix, and Airplay (video and audio). I have the apple TV connected to the HDMI in of the FireTV, the FireTV is then connected to the HDMI in of my TV, the TV connects to the JBL via optical. This solution allows me to easily control everything via Alexa and the FireTV remote. Another feature that I appreciated was being able to connect headphones via bluetooth, in cases where one of us wants to watch tv late, we can connect our BT headphones to the bar and watch anything without disturbing each other. One thing that I would have liked to have seen (but its not really the job of a soundbar) is to allow both audio & video via AirPlay/Cast - you only get audio if you Airplay directly - hence the need for an AppleTV in my scenario above.
Wow! So glad I found this sound bar. It has transformed our TV room into a movie theater. Do not overlook this one! Great value, great sound and simple setup.
Better than my Bose soundbar 🫢! I am using it in a 18x21ft room and the sound is way crisper than my Samsung 70” nice tv speaker. I prefer no base box because the base drowns out some speech clarity IMO. I love that I use my tv remote for volume and play music from my phone. Like others said, I found myself not reading subtitles….whaaaat?!
