This machine sucks, but Nespresso still rocks.

We bought this machine a year ago and have had to have it replaced three times. The machine itself, not great. That being said, Nespresso customer service has been stellar. Each replacement has arrived within a few days and after our third machine they offered us any machine of our choice. We’re trying the Evoluo which has much better ratings! So here’s to hoping it works because we love Nespresso coffee!

Most Unreliable Appliance I Have Owned

The Nespresso "Tagline" for the NEXT machine should be "Our Newest, Smallest, Most Unreliable Virtuo Ever". I purchased a Next a week before Christmas so I could experiment with my technique for Christmas party / dinner. It didn't even last that long! It made great coffee ...... when it made it. The power button stopped working after but 4 days. Called Nespresso and they troubleshot the machine with my and verified it was defective. Returned to retailer and replaced with a new machine. This second machine didn't even make it 4 days. It leaked from the power head / dispenser during the first run. And beyond that, the capsule reader was also defective. The 7.7 oz cup capsules brewed a watered down 15 oz, and the 5.5 oz capsules provided an under brewed 2.7 oz. And of course the final insult was that the power button eventually failed also. Nespresso Tech Support was quite helpful again verifying a defective machine. This time I just got a refund from the retailer. Yeah, I should have read the reviews "before" my original purchase. While I still like Nespresso as a company, I think they rushed the NEXT to market too soon without effective evaluation period. Since my failures are almost identical to the other 1 star ratings I think this is a defective design. Time to dust off the Keurig. While the coffee is not as good, it does brew a cup every single time, even after 8 years. A reliable workhorse.

Broke after 6 months

Delicious coffee, but low quality machine. It did issues from the beginning but stopped working completly after 6 months.

Beautiful machine BUT …

My daughter gifted me the gorgeous teal Next machine. The Espresso is rich and full bodied. The crema is amazing! BUT I’m on my 3rd Next machine because the first two leaked water and stopped working.The 1st machine malfunctioned in less than 3 weeks.The 2nd malfunctioned in a week. they are sending me a 3rd Teal Next but I’m apprehensive that eventually I’ll be on to the Next machine and thereafter. The Color is gorgeous. The size is Perfect. The Espresso is delicious. BUT. I’m extremely disappointed :(((

Known Issue Continues

Bought initially in September, and had to contact re: leaking underneath the machine just one month later. Second machine arrived in October and had no issues until now, February 2022. Same issue occurred- leaking underneath the machine during brewing process. Scheduled a return of this and will be going back to the Vertuo Plus. Definitely cannot recommend this product and Nespresso should pull this model until they can fix it. Their cost is a premium and am disappointed with their lack of quality.

Like Playing a Slot Machine

I bought this as a Christmas gift for myself and began using it in January 2022. When this machine decides to actually make a cup of coffee, it is wonderful. However, similar to a slot machine, you never know when it is actually going to make a cup of coffee. All of the infuriating whirring and blinking orange lights when you are just trying to make your very expensive cup of morning coffee is insane. Under no circumstance would I recommend this lemon to anyone. Can’t express my level of disappointment.I just want this to work and it just doesn’t.

Thank you for your review, Jenny. We’re disappointed to learn that your Vertuo Next is not performing to your expectations. We certainly want your Nespresso experience to be special and exactly to your satisfaction. Please allow us to provide some troubleshooting tips that may help.
Allow the machine to warm up once the machine is turned on. The cup button light will begin to pulse slowly for about 30 seconds, indicating the “warm-up” phase. Once the light is steady white the machine is ready for use. After a Nespresso capsule has been inserted for brewing, close the head, and ensure the lever is fully locked. The lever must go past the lock symbol and there should be a slight click sound when fully locked. Press the cup button once to begin coffee preparation. The cup button light will begin to blink. However, it may take a moment before the flow begins as the machine is reading the bar code and pre-wetting the capsule. Once the machine is finished brewing, the cup button light will become solid. Open the head by turning the lever all the way to the right to eject the capsule into the capsule container.

Buyer Beware

I bought this machine 4 days ago. Woke up this morning and tried to make myself an espresso. Wouldn’t work. Called Nespresso, they had me run through some tests…..no go….faulty machine……4 days…..lesson learned.

Machine stopped working

Initially it was tough to get the machine to start working. After 4 months the machine decided not to brew anymore. Was on the phone with Nespreso for 2 hours cleaning and cleaning and wiping and nothing. We reached a point where a new machine was ordered. My fear is that the bar code recognition is bound to fail sooner or later. Hopefully if this happens Nespreso will replace this machine with a different Vertuo that actually works.
