Think long and hard about this bag before ordering

I ordered this Uplift Hardside Carry-On, examined it, and then returned it. There is a reason why it weighs less than 5 lbs. The materials and construction do not look and appear to me to be very substantial. My view is that it will not last long and will be subject to breakage, denting, and more than ordinary wear and tear before long, even if limited to carry-on use in carry-on bins above passenger seats. As far as breakage is concerned, see some of the photographs submitted by some customers elsewhere in this review, notably the wheels.
Also, keep in mind that all luggage has to deal with curbs, sidewalks and walkways other than inside an airplane. I do not believe this Uplift Hardside Carry-on will last as long as other more substantial luggage. I'd rather deal with a bag with 4 or more additional pounds and get something that will last longer.

Don't get me wrong. I did give it three stars. I would probably give it five stars if it were more substantial. After all, you get what you pay for.
Indeed, if I were younger and still actively practicing, I might have kept this bag for use as a litigation bag to bring numerous documents or heavy exhibits to Court. Alas, that is no longer necessary for me.
I regret I was unable to examine this bag in a retail store before ordering. I am grateful to Samsonite for making returns so easy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this piece because I needed something lightweight that I can pack full and still lift it into the overhead bin space. This suitcase fit the bill. Plenty of space too. I was able to pack a week's worth of items for a trip overseas. I used vacuum packed bags, but the capacity within this case is roomy. I like the zippered compartment as well as the other side which has a strap and cover type way to secure my things. The wheels were good over cobblestones, brick, and cement surfaces. Only drawback is other than the handle used to pick it up to carry, there is no real place for a luggage tag. Putting it on the handle works, but the tag tends to get in the way when I need to lift or carry it. This piece was exactly what I was looking for.

Hinge problem

great til handle broke

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a couple years ago. On sale. It has been GREAT to travel with. Light, compact all great things. Until….. the handle broke right before I was supposed to board the plane. Luckily it was on my return flights. But I had no way to fix it so I had to carry it - which was hard on y body. Ofor some of the longer walkways, I was able to push it, but that wasn’t fun either

Great design and light, but fatally flawed hinges

I purchased this luggage for San Francisco to Hong Kong/Jakarta/Bali trip about a month ago. First time using the luggage structurally the luggage survived the trip extremely well, no dents or crack. However the hinges has completely failed. The stitches on one side of the hinge came apart by the time I arrived in Jakarta. I can see glue residue coming apart from the middle of the hinges. Very poor design as the hinge is bit flexible enough to actually bend when the luggage is opened. Contemplating repair options or modify personally with a more reliable hinges system. 2 stars for great design and lightweight for the size.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
