Bought this one for my wife. We are typical Garmin people with a brief hiatus that saw us regrettably trying Apple. The Forerunner has always been my favourite of all the Garmin wearables. Light weight, great interface, superb fitness tracking and abilities at a reasonable entry point for this particular Forerunner. Also having the touch screen elevates this model quite a bit.

Good features not durable

Within 1 month of getting this watch the start button stopped working. Followed the directions for cleaning the watch on garmin site with no luck. Did not do anything harsh with it just recorded hikes and runs. Garmin did replace the product.

Great introduction to the Garmin world. Has more features than I will use and provides daily workout recommendations. Tracking weight lifting is a little finicky. Battery lasts way longer than my old Apple Watch.

I bought this for my marathon training and has been great so far. Insight in to heart rate and effort has been super beneficial for my training. Screen is very nice and easy to navigate

Just what I was looking for!

After much research I decided to go with the Garmin. I had an Apple Watch and was very disgusted with the battery life. ( some days it wouldn’t last all day) I am very pleased with the battery life on the Garmin. The features are great. I am a novice runner but I still like to track what I do. The Garmin is perfect for what I do. I highly recommend the Garmin Forerunner 165 it’s reasonably priced and does what I like.

A whole new world for running

I have had and gone through many different types of “smart” watches: Apple, Fitbit, etc. and now a Garmin.
This watch is a completely different playing field and experience when it comes to tracking, improving and breaking down your runs (including overall health). I was very caught off guard and the learning curve was a shock (hence the 4 stars, I’d be giving 4.5 if I could), I did have to utilize social media for applications/processes that I could not figure out on my own.
I love the different features that are offered and the fact that I don’t have to pay a yearly fee to use all of them is astounding (*cough, cough* Fitbit). I was especially shocked to find out that I have the option of using a coach to help me reach my running goals.
I have been doing my best to utilize every feature and the influence my Garmin has had on me maintains healthy habits has been the best outcome of all.
I feel as though this watch will last me forever.
Worth every penny and I will never look back.

Best Forerunner

Long time Garmin user. Started with 305 (brick on your wrist), Fenix 5s, Vivoactive (OG), Venue 2, FR 965, and finally FR 165. Although technically 965 has more features, 165 is the goldilock of Firerunners for me. Light, feature rich, and a joy to run with. Love it!
