Does all the basics reliably

I have little interest in wearing a smart watch outside of activities as a "smart watch". I'm a cyclist and most of my activity gets logged on a bike computer. This has worked great so far for running, hiking ,ski touring, etc. The only limitation I've encountered so far is it has a limited number of preset activities. Skiing is missing as an example. You can create your own however.

Great running watch for the average or beginning runner

Primarily a cyclist, but started running again after several years off. I used a HRM to train for a half-marathon some years ago and now depend on the HRM in this watch to maintain my pace, mostly to make sure I'm not going too hard and end paying for it the next day! The watch is great for setting a pace, easy to read while running, and has many more bells and whistles that I haven't explored yet, but will as I increase my mileage and variety of runs. It was a great purchase!

I previously had a Garmin Vivoactive 3 which was a great watch but when I lost it while traveling I decided to try the Forerunner 165. I love all of the additional features!

Just what I needed

This watch has been an incredible training tool. It has all the features I need as a beginner to running/training for races. I feel it is easy to operate and to see all my stats after a workout. I wasn't interested in having the ability to keep music on it since I always have my phone with me, so this cheaper model (that still looks very nice) was the one for me. I love the ability to use the touchscreen or the buttons and I feel like the watch face is just the right size on my wrist.

Love it as an EMT/runner/crossfit goer

It's exactly what I'm looking for! As an EMT, every second counts. So it's great to have the full time displayed down to the minutes. While I'm a runner/hiker/dog walker, I get all the stats plus more. And for CrossFit, all I need to track is HIIT/weight lifting. Some people what a specific category but I'm the type of person that tracks my WODS 50% of the time. More interested in maintaining my runs AND swimming stats to stay accountable while by myself. Overall, perfect! Battery stays strong for a week or more, tracking 5, 1 hour workouts a week.

AMOLED screen is a nice upgrade from Forerunner 55. Love all the data it collects. HRV was a nice addition.
