I love the outdoor lights, but I had a problem with the extra strand I ordered to go on 50 ft strip. It caused the whole strand to blink. I tried to reset everything, even took it off the wifi, but I could not get it to work properly. I final just took it off and threw it in a drawer. I could not return it because had already discarded the package. but I'm glad that I will not need to put up Christmas lights anymore. The fireworks setting was great for the 4th of July. So, I'm still pretty happy with the product.
Using them for mainly security lighting over windows and doors. They are working great. Govee needs to make some 8 foot sections available and some 8 foot jump and 12 foot jump cables available for customers
A) Installed these about 20 inches from face of wall, on some wedge shaped trim so they aim back towards the wall. Light is less intense, but still puts color all over the wall (and fascia does a good job hiding the pucks from the street). B) Govee needs to offer spare extensions. Used the 12 foot one that came with the kit, but would have loved to be able to buy these separately, maybe even on that is half as long. Would give people more options for layout. Offer spare wire clips, while you're at it. C) App still needs work. For one thing, setting an automation (FYI, on at sunset) needs more customization. Able to delay past a given time, but not BEFORE. ALL of my other RGBs allow customization before sunset. Another item would be to allow user to zoom in on individual pixels for a custom lighting effect. Some of us have large fingers, or are using a phone to customize, so selecting an individual pixel can become a struggle.
But... I'm happy with my install, I'm glad I purchased them. Only took a star off due to the items above, which I think are solvable by Govee.
200 ft took me about 3 hours to put up, and another 3 hours to clean up, conceal wires, install adhesive clips, etc...
I would suggest not installing the wire support clips until you have run the show for a few days. You may want to adjust the position of the lights, and this will help woth that. Also, you can cut the wires, and make short extensions no problem. This is useful for small jumps in the eaves if the roof line changes to gBle end or something. I just drilled a hole in the eave, and tucked my extension connections into the eave to keep it dry and weatherproof. Then come back with cauking and seal the hole.
I am very happy with the lights. I wish they came with more clips to secure them, the tape doesn't work so well on the old wood where the lights were installed, but the the lights are great. The app is fine, and easy enough to use for pre-programmed setting, but is not very user friendly for making you own lighting design.
I've done exactly what the instructions say to do. Several of my lights have came off and I don't have enough wire clips to attach them back. Love the lights just wish the lights stuck on better.
The lights are great but the navigational portion of the app is less to be desired. Would like to see it dummied down a bit so one doesn't have to go to tech school to navigate. Would be nice to open it and choose a color(s) and pattern you'd like to see without the hassle. My wife and I still haven't figured it out the way we want it. We just got lucky by pushing buttons and left it where it landed.
