Great Headphones

Great headphones. They have a more open stage then typical closed back headphones letting your music envelop you more completely. Build quality is also very good, but that should be expected as these are quite expensive. Overall very happy with my purchase.

If one is looking for a "wired" Over-Ear Headphones (which was my requirement), look no further. These are premium headphones, sit nicely over and cover my ears perfectly (on top of my hearing aids - RIC type i.e. Receiver in Ear Canal). No outside noise and no volume loss with hearing aid in place. Very comfortable for extended use. In the past, I used mid-range Sony & Bose headphones but this headphone is much superior in quality.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The ultimate closed-back

As someone who produces electronic music but also spends a lot of time watching films and listening to Hi-Fi recordings, the HD 620S from Sennheiser turned out to be an ideal all-round choice.
Pairing and bass performance
I paired these headphones with the Zen DAC 3 from iFi audio, and the XBass+ feature makes a noticeable difference. The HD 620S has a neutral, reference-style low end, which is excellent for accuracy but may feel restrained for cinematic or casual listening. While EQ can achieve similar results, the analog bass boost feels more natural and engaging, enhancing immersion without compromising clarity.
Sound quality and soundstage
The soundstage is exceptional for a closed-back design. Movies feel expansive and cinematic, comparable to the experience of watching in an IMAX (not speaking of the real sub, of course). Music, especially well-produced electronic or live recordings, feels spacious and three-dimensional, with precise instrument placement and excellent separation. This makes them equally suitable for critical mixing and enjoyable listening.
Build quality and comfort
The only minor drawback is the build quality. The plastic construction feels slightly less premium than expected at full retail price, with a bit of flex in certain areas. However, this does not affect comfort or usability. They remain lightweight, comfortable, and suitable for long sessions without fatigue.
Value and overall verdict
At full price, they’re a strong contender, but with a 30% discount, they become an outstanding value. Their technical performance, versatility, and immersive presentation make them one of the best closed-back headphones in their class.
Advice for potential buyers
If you find the stock tuning too flat, don’t be discouraged. Their neutral signature is ideal for mixing and mastering, but they respond extremely well to EQ or analog bass enhancement. With a tasteful bass boost, combined with their impressive soundstage, they deliver one of the most immersive closed-back listening experiences available.
Final verdict: An excellent choice for producers, audiophiles, and movie lovers who want accuracy, immersion, and versatility in a closed-back design.
