First off, huge Otterbox fan. Unfortunately I dropped my phone from my hand from about 3 feet and one of the plastic hinges broke on the case. I suppose it did what it was supposed to do - protect my phone which was undamaged - but I don't believe a 3 foot drop (and I was just standing) should cause the case hinge plastic (knob where it goes into the hinge) to break and come off. I will actually purchase another one because in the end - it did what it was supposed to do - absorb the damage. Unfortunately, I think the design seems to be lighter weight plastic and is not that tough, hence the four stars vs. five stars.

Case broke at the hinge after less than two months. I've had other Otterbox products that have lasted years, so I'm very unimpressed.

possible flawed hinge design?

Similar to other complaints, the hinge area seems to be the problem. When you bend the galazy z flip5 to close, i observed that the hinge applies a force on the lower portions that jut out and make it bend towards the cellphone. This is probably why the breakage occurs in the lower area of the hinge. I've always preferred otterbox cases because of the durability. I have warrantied this item, hopefully the replacement lasts longer. This was a letdown given the price paid for the case. The case needs a redesign.

Broken Hinge!

I have had this case for just a few days over 2 months and the hinge has already broken with fairly light usage. Now the case does not close properly and the hinge moves back and forth.
I have owned at least 10 Otterbox phone cases over the years and I have never had an issue like this. The design is defective.

Decent product bad hinge design

It works great for protection but the pivot parts on the back side the plastic breaks easily over time second one to break along the pivot joints which without that joint the phone case wont stick to the phone
I would recommend this to a friend!

The case works great. I haven't dropped it, but I've had Otter boxes before and they always work great. It protects everything including the hinge. It looks pretty cool too. The crevasses get a little dirty though, especially in the hinge.
I would recommend this to a friend!
