Liked it in ways but returned it. The sound profile used to be called "bright" back in my day, California Sound, Beach Boys, heavy in the high end . At higher volumes it could be harsh but generally improved dialog and sound detail. I was on the fence about the sound profile.
Video was a problem for me. Apple TV 4K Gen3 as source and Sony A80J TV do pretty well with HDR10 and DolbyVision type content. Using MA9100 4K input HDMI ports my test material from Dune 2 and Game of Thrones season 8 episode 3, The Long Night, was darker and lost detail. Using the 8K ports yielded a magnificent picture, plenty of detail. But my TV would lock up hard, frequently and require unplugging to reset.
So, the video and audio quality were crisp and detailed but a little heavy in the high end. I didn't investigate the compatibility issue, just decided to return it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
