Nice idea, won't charge my phone

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was easy to install but unfortunately it will not charge any of my family members phones. We have an iPhone, a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and a Samsung?. I have tried multiple times, removed all phone covers but it would not charge any of the phones. We just took a 12 hour each way road trip where I tried multiple times. Actually when I first installed the apparatus it was constantly opening and closing, looking to hold a phone. But when I actually went to out a phone in it nothing happened. After about 3 hours I discovered that there are red buttons on the side that when pushed would open the arms enough to hold a phone. But still no charging. I'm going to keep it in my car because I can use my own charger and have it hold my phone. It will make using my GPS easier.
