Don’t Trust The Reviews, buy it!

unless you’re coming from a previous Ally or PC it can be a bit tricky to get started but do all your updates and personalizations and you’ll be good.
Sure there might be a few defects with some units being reviewed, that’s normal with every new console launch. All things considered …
It feels way better than the original Ally and I mean it’s easy to hold for long durations of gaming. The battery increase is such an overlooked feature, with my previous Ally I barely got though the windows setup and updates without needing to plug it in for charging.
It fast charges (100w) with the right cable and brick. The SSD swap was easy and straight forward and the heat this thing outputs vs the last general is way less. The fans ramp up less, and the default profiles are perfect.
Things to consider if you owned an old ally. Yes it’s worth the upgrade, but you’ll most likely need a new dock as the usc c ports are to the left now instead of the right.
Otherwise I’ve noticed not only slight but noticeable increase in performance, better D pad it’s like night and day! And the higher ram makes it feel snappier. This is maybe what the original Ally was suppose to be, but atleast they got it right now.
The $200 increase over the z1 extreme is worth it considering you’ll need to invest in an expensive 2230 ssd and a power bank to travel with.

Poor quality control

Runs games great, really cool device. Only issue is the quality control on the controller parts is abysmal. Came with two triggers that won't calibrate and shoot weapons in games without even pressing them, and my right joystick is loose and clunks around where the left feels smooth and how it's supposed to. This is new, straight out of the box. Probably should have read reviews first because there is multiple people experiencing this. Will be returning unfortunately.

Not Good

I purchased this today, and while the set up was easy, it did take about half hour before I could start installing games. I previously had a Legion go, I wish I never sold it. The ally x is uncomfortable to hold, the dpad is brutal, the screen at 7 inches is way to small for AAA games. The battery life, and the sound seems to be the only positive things i can say about it. Only had this for 7 hours and I already hate it. Will be retuning this garbage asap. Will exchanging for the Legion Go!!!

Arrived from work and received what look like a new box but everything inside was wrapped wrong. Everything was working find but after i finished to setup the unit i saw that one of the back button was loose and when i checked closer i saw that the plastic that the button was sliding into was cracked and chipped and so the button was loose and not clicking correctly.
That a shame i preordered that thing at day one now i have to return it tomorrow

Better Than The First Ally

It seems like some people are using the reviews to criticize a device they don't even own yet. I’ll admit that my Ally X arrived a day late, but that hasn’t affected my experience so far. The Ally X has exceeded my expectations. Yes, it is pricey, but for someone like me who bought the original Ally to play AAA games on the go, the updated RAM and battery life make it even more capable. I'm no longer hovering around an outlet, waiting for the "low battery" warning. The SD card slot works just fine, and it looks sleek in all black. It’s also very comfortable to hold for long periods. If you're looking to get into the handheld PC market or you have an original Ally and some extra spending money, I highly recommend this product.

Best Handheld Gaming System out right now!

Sure, there’s other units with “higher” specs but if you don’t know how to use Windows to your advantage or sacrifice a few hours of your time to read and learn how to use these systems, then of course, you’ll be an unhappy person. While I personally feel that if you already own the Z1E then this is probably not the upgrade you need, it’ll just be the one you want. If you don’t own an Ally already, this is the one to get if you can afford it, otherwise the OG is still an amazing unit with “different” features.

buggy UI but overall a nice package

UI is buggy, it’s probably because it’s windows. Runs pretty much everything, really great screen and very decent battery life.
