I assembled this myself, and was incredibly impressed with the packaging, and the clarity of the diagram-guided instructions. The quality of Weber always impresses me (I own four different models) but this Q 2800+ with the stand is remarkable for the price. Grilling performance is terrific, as one expects from anything branded Weber. Charge more if you need to but please always give us this kind of exceptional quality.
I previously owned the Weber 1200Q grill. Unfortunately with only one burner it did not heat well, especially if it was cold (under 70) or windy. The 2800Q heats to 500 degrees in no time and stays hot. I absolutely love it. The powder blue is really beautiful on my deck. Although I'm not very handy I was able to put the stand and grill together in about an hour.
We have a relatively small deck and this grill is perfect for our space. It doesn't take up too much space and the design doesn't seem to make it the center point of deck. It blends in very nicely.
I've had this grill about one month and in WI weather I've made use of it only 5-6 times. That's enough to know that I like this grill. Generally, I'm cooking for only 2 people and this grill has plenty of room for our needs. However, I'm confident that I could add more food if needed when we have company.
At first I had trouble getting used to the dual burner controls. However, now I find them easy to use. They give more control over the proper cooking temperature. The main burner circles the grill leaving a smaller center area for the 2nd burner. I would prefer having the ability to grill only on one side of the grill for some foods while turning off the burner on the other side. This grill doesn't offer that.
Another grilling option I've always been used to is to have a 2nd level cooking surface for some foods that don't need to be on the direct heat. I was able to find an expandable piece with a raised surface that fits perfectly under the hood and still allows direct cooking under it.
For a smaller space and cooking for a small group, this is a perfect grilling option. I highly recommend it.
I had a 2 burner Weber Spirit that I finally replaced after 15 years with a new Q2800N. I love the Q better than my Spirit! I bought the half griddle along with it and it is definitely a game changer. Just last night we grilled fillets and sautéed onions and mushrooms on the griddle and it turned out delicious! It also is easier to clean! My personal 2 downfalls:1. It doesn’t come with a gas tank gauge like the Spirit did, but I was able to attach one and, 2. Weber grill covers have really become cheaply made since I bought my Spirit! All in all, it’s an excellent grill and highly recommend!
