You never ask how your pkg arrived. This is a first time for me, the item arrived in a crushed box, I usually save my boxes, but not this time.

We're sorry to hear your box arrived damaged. We understand how important it is to receive your set in good condition, so if you haven't already, give us a call or chat at LEGO.build/Service-BV so we can take a closer look.
I buy all the large Technic sets, including the recent McClaren P1. While I love them all, the Mercedes here might be the best of all. Why? It’s the perfect blend of price and challenging-but-fun. The gearing is complex but nothing like the “you must pay total attention or your fingers will hate you when you take it apart to fix” super car builds. The little details - like the locking doors - are cool, and the size makes a perfect display. And, finally, you can stomach the price. A perfect Technic set. More like this one, please, Lego!

A very enjoyable Technic build. There is nice detail and it looks incredible when it is finished.
Sorry to spoil the parade on five stars, but this was Not a fun build for me I have done every technic vehicle that has come out in the last 10 years and this is the worst example of any of them Perhaps it’s due to the square sides, which Lego failed to capture with regard to fit as you can see There are just too many loose ends on the sides of the doors and the side of the hood I find myself enlarging almost every step that had to do with the doors and the fitment so I can see that I was doing it correctly, although it does not look correct Quality of this building is nowhere near that of the Land Rover that I have done sorry Lego And as you can see, it is impossible to reach either the gearshift or the four-wheel-drive selector due to the placement without moving the seats unless your fingers and wrist are the size of a 10-year-old
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The build had defective parts and needed to be replaced. The replacement parts needed to be sent ASAP and priority mail. Lego would only use regular mail. Not acceptable.
Pros - fun gear centric build with cool features like locking diffs, transfer cases, etc. Lots of detail went into little things like functioning door handles and door jambs, body angles, interior replication
Cons - the front suspension is too soft and the model pitches to the front more than I care for. G-wagons don’t look like that in a parking lot. Aside from aesthetics, the soft front end, stiff rear end, and forward center of mass, the model is hard to play with and drive around because the front suspensions compresses and the drivetrain binds up if you have gears engaged.
The reason I gave it such a bad rating is because I tried to electrify this vehicle and the transfer case is incapable of handling any torque. Take a look at the pics. If you take the front off and remove the engine block you can snug an XL motor perfectly between the two vertical braces. Two black studs on each side keep it from rotating. The spare “yellow axle in the cargo box” is the exact length you need to connect the motor to the old existing connection for the crankshaft. Route the wires thru the dash into the cab and it’s ready for testing. Unfortunately the motor doesn’t turn the drivetrain because the transfer case isn’t built to handle torque.
I was so impressed with the build after completing it that all I wanted to do was test all the drivetrain functionality. So I bought a motor package with a controller and IR receiver and got it working. But that darn green barrel gear lets the inner white gear rotate inside it and the motor won’t drive the truck. After giving up my hopes, I rolled over the truck like a turtle on its back and tried working all the levers to see it from underneath. Even that amount of resistance in the drivetrain was too much for the transfer case.
Lego, help me out and tell me I did something wrong like flipped a gear during the transfer case build because you hear this all the time. Please tell me I’m wrong.
Was doing fine but the instructions or picture wasn't very clear and two pieces in the wrong direction and had to tear it down and start over, then get it to a point and the steering was not working, so tear down #2, and start over, they say third times a charm it was. Except for all that it was a real fun project. Thank You.
