I purchased this radio based on a review on youtube by Notarubicon. I am pleased with its operation and the hand mic does feel awesome. The speakers are plenty loud and although this radio is narrow band it still sounds good from my usage of approximately 8 miles of urban and rural coverage to another user using a beofang uv5g.

I'm a ham, so pardon if I, "Ham," this up a bit. I use it to talk to family who don't have their ham ticket. It's a simple direct conversion transceiver, puts out 15W, and has this random USB port on the front ... handy I guess? Anyway, the controls are all on the speaker/mic, it works like a normal GMRS handheld with repeater channels and no extra bells or whistles, and for the channelized band it works in it's more than sufficient in quality of output and selectivity. And the power output is just about right for most vehicles - 15W pushes through to the UHF horizon so on a basic dipole at 6' or so in the air, so you're not wasting the extra power of a bigger unit, and the little hat pin antenna has just about the right directionality for something that's pitching and rolling to not get dropouts. Depending on your car and how you like it, the MXT115 and MXT275 comes down to personal preference. I do wish they offered it in a pack with an NMO antenna since I don't have a roof that works with mag mounts, but it's still a great inexpensive little unit, and unless you have a proper fixed station with antenna mast or are driving a heavy truck or farm equipment where the antenna gets higher up, this and its cousin the MXT115 are really the right sized mobile GMRS radio.

First I gave it 4stars only because I haven't had the chance to try it on road. As far a ease of installation it is fantastic. Fit's in my Jeep TJ with no problem. I liked it so much I bought another one for a friend's birthday this month. Great value and compact so you can put it almost anywhere.
