Solid unit. Ideal for installation in a vehicle with limited space or mounting options (mine is a 2008 Highlander). I also like having all the controls on the handset. This is the ideal radio for a vehicle.

I just recently purchased the MXT 275 and it has been great! I own a 2015 Tacoma (double cabe) and used the space under the back seat to house my aftermarket electronics. There was enough space to mount the body of the MXT275 with the rest of the electronics and using a cat 6 cable and female/female bulk head connected the hand mic in the cubby under the AC controls. I can disconnect the hand mic, throw it in the glove box and no one can see any components, helping avoid theft. I did upgrade to a 6db gain antenna and we have had no problems talking with other trucks using similar GMRS platforms and hand held radios on the ground through various terrains and urban environments. The hand mic is loud and clear, has great functions and the weather band is always great on long trips. I would highly recommend this radio platform!

I’ve wanted the MXT275 for a while and for my birthday the wife surprised me with it! I installed it into my Jeep for a hard wired, high powered radio while out camping and off roading. I also have some Midland handhelds that are great but I like knowing I’ve got more power and options on the big radio. I love it so much I bought a second one for my tiny camper trailer. Now, while I’m roaming around in the Jeep away from the camp site, we can still get ahold of each other. I was a comms guy in the Army. I guess some things never change.

Extremely easy to setup. Using The 12v plug in adapter and mounting the transceiver in a "soft install" location in the center console made the setup time minimal. Mounted the antenna out the back window of my Tacoma and I was powered within 10 minutes. The handheld has a good weight to it. You can change the backlight to suite your eyesight or personal preference. You can change the speaker output to three different settings: handheld,integrated transceiver speaker, or both.
