I bought this as part of my Jeep build. So far I love it. The install was very straightforward, although I did need to buy a separate antenna wire to go with the Ghost Antenna.
I ordered the MXT 275 and Lip Mount Antenna Mount and 6 db antenna. I enjoy Overland Camping and 4 Wheeling, so I wanted a little bit more power through the Antenna. My wheeling partner already bought this exact same Radio and I copied him to be able to use them on future trips. We both got our GMRS Licenses and we are set to go this spring and summer. The ease of install was great and the sound quality is much better than my current CB radio. I am anxious to get more of my friends into the GMRS radios to make it easier during trail rides and overlanding trips.
Our offroad desert crew decided to dump the inefficient CBs for GMRS. I needed a unit that was small and somewhat portable. The included bracket, accessory port power lead, and convenient inputs exceeded my expectations. My only concern may be the smallish antenna in terms of range, but we’ll see how that works out. I do like the magnetic base and small gauge lead of the antenna.
Bought the radio to augment and ultimately replace s CB that we use on Jeep Jamborees. Paired the radio with a 6db gain antenna and have been amazed at both the quality of reception as well as distance. Even in terrain that baffles our CB.
Jeep Jamboree USA is planning on transitioning to GMRS radios next year so this radio would be a perfect match for Jeepers looking to switch.
Found a great spot up beside glove box to mount the main unit in our Wrangler. Out of sight yet still accessible.
I have installed the main box of the MXT275 under the glovebox in my 15 Wrangler. Fit perfectly and snug there. Bought myself a jeepuniq passenger grab bar mount, it's in reach of both driver and passenger. I recommend this radio to anyone that has limited space because everything you need is on the mic.
