I've been running this radio for about 2 months now and really love the small form factor and features. When I'm not using it, I disconnect and store the handset out of the way. The reception/transmission is great with the 15w output. I've currently got it paired with the 3db ghost antenna and it's all working together nicely. The weather band function is awesome while out camping remotely. And if color matching your interior lighting colors is your thing...you're in luck, you can change the display color to match! Overall this radio installs quickly and easily, has an additional USB port and a fun unknown for most is: you can turn the speaker on the handset and the base unit on at the same time. Gets you a little extra volume!
I have had this radio in my truck for over a year and have never had an issue with it. The interface is super easy to use and the booklet explains all the functions and the menu well.
Awesome radio for the money, way better than a CB radio.
Leave the limitations of CB for GMRS, you'll be glad you did. I have the MXT275 with the 6db antenna and it works SO well for me. So many in the off-road community are making the switch to GMRS right now.
The controls on the microphone are what sold me. The head unit can easily be installed out of sight, leaving only the microphone on the dash. It's a plug and play install with hardly any setup time. Comes with everything you need to get started. Really like the no drill mounting and easily removable.
As soon as you open the box, you're amazed by how much good stuff Midland packed into it - and how really small this unit is. The second thing that strikes you is the incredible quality of every component included. This is why I tend to stick with the tried and true brands over the upstarts. You get the feeling that this unit contains decades of experience and refinement from the very minute you open the box, through the painless set up and the first time you use it. The term "state-of-the-art is so over used but this truly is it. Highly recommend.
We’ve been using these radios for past 5 months and can honestly say they are an essential piece of equipment. We’ve used them when leading trail rides, rescuing stuck vehicle and people and for simple communications while driving down the road. Used in conjunction with the handheld radios we don’t head out the door with our radios. Awesome product, thanks Midland!
Before purchasing I used old Motorola walkie talkies but want something that had better range, reliability and ease of use. So the Micromobile MXT275 was my first two-way radio unit that I have installed in my Subaru Forester. It was super simple to install by following the directions provided. The biggest obstacle was figuring out where to mount the antenna and main unit but besides that it was way easier than I thought it would be. I have only used it to once so far to communicate with fellow off-roaders and it work great. The clarity and volume coming through the mic was better than excepted and it was really easy to hear what everyone was saying. I like how all the features are on the mic, providing great functionality. All in all, I would definitely recommend this unit if you're looking for an easy modification to upgrade your two-way radio.
The MXT-275 was a new product that has me a little spektical becuase it was a GMRS, I COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG. The range, its crazy how much it picks up and how clear the sound is when talking to other vehciles with a unit. The compatabilty between midland products is amazing, i have been really imrpessed with how easy it is to hand off a handheld unit and stil ger crazy range. Don't over think it, get a MXY-275!
