The overall quality of Midland products from the MTX 275 and the additional antennas with the magnet Mount and the universal it mounts are very well-constructed durable and are working wonderfully.
I was very impressed with the heavy construction, not cheap plastic. The hide away plug-in base coupled with all controls in the mike...perfect design. You do not need an external speaker. Covid19 prevents me from testing in the field, but feel confident the unit will perform as shown on Utube.
The MXT275 is a great radio, but it's everything else in the box that makes this an incredible all-around product. Having the controls an display on the mic allows the radio unit to be mounted basically anywhere. A mic mounting clip, radio bracket screws, 12v plug, and a pre-cabled mag mount antenna are all included in the box. The kit comes with everything you need to start using the radio right away, which is basically unheard of! An underrated feature of the radio itself is the USB charge port on the front. I have been plugging in my phone via a 12v charger in the center console, but now I have the radio powered through that port and the phone is charged by the radio. Very cool! It's an awesome product that can get you on the air right away. I installed it in my Jeep in 30 minutes, using the Midland MXTA25 3dB ghost antenna mounted on the MXTA22 Ditch Light extension bracket. All good stuff!
I got this unit to replace my Midland CB in my Jeep. The clarity and range is phenomenal. with just the included min-antenna, I’m able to reach a repeater 16.9 miles from my house. It’s going to be a game changer when I travel in conveys with other Jeeps and when we get to the trails.
I hard wired mine to power and installed it under the passenger seat. The ability to control the radio from the handset made that possible. Changing the LED color to match my interior lighting was a cool touch.
Time will tell about longevity, but if it’s made like my Midland CB, I’ll be enjoying this unit for many years to come.
Great radio, works great. Much better range than a handheld. I bought this because Jeep Jamboree is moving to the FRS/GMRS format. I wanted something that could be mounted under my dash out of sight and this was the perfect radio. My neighbor fabricated a bracket and it fit perfectly behind the glove box. The antenna is small and easily concealed behind the tire carrier. Not the best placement for range, but good enough for what I need. Very happy.
Very small and easy to find a place to install. Took 10min to install. Stick on mic clip doesn’t work. Just received and haven’t been able to test distance so far so I will up date once I install acc.antena.
Our 4WD Club has been using handheld family radios for years and have had issues with range sometimes preventing the trail leader in the lead vehicle from being heard at the back of the convoy. We tested a pair of the MXT275 and had great transmission and reception at over 5 miles. Plus the radio fits nicely crossways under the crossbar accessible when the glovebox is removed on a Jeep JK - just remove the radio mount and zip tie the radio body directly under the cross bar with the mic cable facing the driver’s side.
