I just got this a couple weeks ago and put it in my grand Cherokee and used Velcro tape to mount on the side of console and I have the antenna in back of seat and run it out rear window when using it .loud speaker great

I purchased this radio because of the mic housed all the data that would normally be on the radio and I needed something with a remote control head, and this fits the criteria, but the 15 watts was a concern. Well when I coupled the radio, MXT275, to the MXTA26, mobile antenna, I was totally surprise that I was able to hit repeaters 40 miles away. I live in southern NJ and the repeater is in Philadelphia. This is a great combo.

Did my homework and settled on the MXT275 for several reasons and am happy that I did. Having all functions and readout in the mic was primary with the small form of the actual radio being the second. Mounting this radio in a crowded off road/overland rig was greatly simplified by this radio! Anything bigger would have been a challenge. Having everything in the mic, enabled the readout to be located where it could be seen easily in the driver's seat. Appreciated the 3M "super tape" option so I did not have to drill the steel dash with even more holes - stuff gets rearranged in these rigs so don't need any unused holes left behind! Range is a key fundamental in the use of any radio in off roading, and this radio does not disappoint, though an antenna upgrade is paramount to the MXTA26 6db antenna to get the most out it. I have heard mobile radios from as far away as 60 plus miles over a mountain range and have talked to a 2.5 watt handheld over a mountain ridge 6 miles away; though hearing the handheld was difficult, the handheld heard the more powerful MXT275 clearly. If I could have a more perfect radio, it would be this form in a 40 watt transmitter.

The small form factor of this radio made it the ideal choice for my Jeep. I had been running with a hand-held CB, but its performance was horrible. The MXT275's performance blows that CB away!! Now my Jeep group can communicate off-road with superior clarity and at much farther distance. Definitely a great buy!
