Setup as a base station with accompanying antenna sitting in a window. Able to hit a repeater that is approximately 5 miles away, with obstructions. Do plan to install a base antenna on top of my 25' barn roof, expect range to easily hit 20 miles.

Bought this for my side by side to communicate with my group. Also bought some hand helds for the people who don't have their own radios. Works perfectly. I bought the speaker thinking the handheld mic wouldn't be loud enough in a SxS but it is actually very loud and clear. Probably didn't need the speaker.

I received a non operational unit. Midland was awesome to deal with and promptly sent out a replacement. The MTX275 is able to pull in a lot of chatter from construction sites, public works, building maintenance people, and even random kids popping in and out in neighborhood. Definitely impressed with the little stock antenna and would love to one day mount a bigger one if comes to that. Build quality is good, it's got a hefty sturdiness to it. Can't wait to do a hidden install with a RJ45 connection in the center console for my 4runner!
