This mobile GMRS radio was the easiest to install compared to my other mobile comms since it already has comes with a 12v power plug I decided to just place it between my drivers seat and the center console so if I needed I can take it out easily without any mounting. I already had a existing GMRS mobile antenna so I did not use the small mag mount antenna w/ a nice amount of cable that came with unit. In less then 15 minutes including routing my antenna cable to the radio, it was up and running and so easy to program compared to my ham mobile. Overall I am very happy with the radio and how easy it was to setup.

Great radio, BUT... Two major flaws.

Love the form factor, nice and small, easy to install, great ergonomics. Two major issues:
1. There's no setting to have the radio come on when power is applied. Every time you cycle the vehicle key, the radio remains off and you have to turn it on manually - EVERY TIME!!! This gets annoying quick. This is a deal breaker for me; a mobile radio that is designed to be installed in a vehicle should have the option to come on automatically when power is applied.
2. When the radio is on, the LCD remain on at all times - this is good. But for some reason the keypad lighting times out in 10 seconds and there's no way to change it. Why, Midland? Why did you give us seven different color options for the LCD but not an option to have the keypad lighting on at all times?
I'm returning the radio. If these two issues are fixed in the future, I will buy the radio again.

I bought this a month ago and it worked fine but a short developed in the wiring and it's going back to Midland on a warranty claim. Other than this one issue, it's a great radio.
