We bought this mainly for camping and some Subaru meetups. I wanted a radio that was easy to setup and could be removed with no problems. This unit is perfect! The base will live in my center console while the antenna can be removed easily while not in use. This is the perfect radio for those looking for plug and play like I was. I am a noobie to GMRS, but have tinkered with CB's in my teens. I was able to reach a repeater approximately 20miles away. I'm not sure that my transmissions came through, but I could hear other conversations clearly. When turned down to the FRS channels I was able to have crystal clear conversations at 2.5 miles to another MXT275. Bought this for my side by side and couldn't be happier!
